Default Lubrication points/grease nipples?

Hi all,

are there any grease nipples on the X150, and if so what is their location, and what is the recommended greasing interval with what grease type?

Thanks a lot,
Thierry

No grease zerks on a X150. The only way to grease the suspension is with a needle through the rubber boot. Take a look, more that likely, the rubber is rotting away and the joint will need to be replaced.

The original cars did not have any grease fittings, however if you have replacement suspension parts from other manufacturers, some of them may well have grease fittings.
Example,
My 2007 XK has Moog brand rear stabilizer bar drop links which do have 2 grease fittings each.
Check underneath for yourself.

Thanks both.

Well, I suppose it’s “greased/oiled for life” then, which means simply “until it fails”, like for the diff and the tranny.

What procedure and grease type would you recommend to go with a needle through the joint?

Thierri

Some questions

1) Does anything squeak on your car that shouldn't?
2) Do you have the ability to raise your car off the ground (either ramps or a lift) to inspect your current boots at home?
3) Are your boots in decent condition?
4) If your boots are failing do you have the capability to change yourself?

If the first three you answer as No, No Yes, then leave well alone,if however the answers are Yes Yes Yes then consider something like this

Amazon Amazon

Have used on my old X100 and also my Audi

Thanks.

Well the answers are No, Yes, Yes, Yes...
I'm just used to grease the nipples I find on my cars once in a while, but never did it directly on the joint, and I also misinterpreted the term needle, I thought it would be a much thinner one, used to pierce through the boot.
I suppose it can't harm to add some grease at the right spots, so may give it a try. Any recommendations on the best grease to use? on my former Jaguars, I had a list of all lubricants, including greases, recommended by Jaguar, but not for the X150. Does this exists?

I don't think that grease technology has moved on quite as quickly as fuel or oil, so you should be fine using what you previously did...even if it was an SS 2.5 from 1933!
