Question Maimed pulley and jammed bushing

I have purchased a Dremel 4000 tool with a 1/2" diamnond cutting wheel that has a depth gauge on it to prevent me from scoring the shaft while cutting thru the bushing. I talked to chris at Mina and he said that the pulley should have never been cut horizontally thru the welds. That thread with a pic was posted on a JAGUAR FORUMS THREAD. I am expecting the adminstrator to give me some insight prior to cutting the bushing with this dremel tool. I would also like to warn those that do their own work on their cars, (My bf taught me) that there is also a thread where an individual instructs to use a torch to heat up the pulley. Just so ya know, this will melt the seal in short order. I will let you know on saturday if I am successfull in getting the jammed bushing off without destroying the blower. I am sending pics of the bushing, pulley and myself to the admnistrator to authenticate my situation

Default tore up shaft

It is for real. the bushing is tore up. the bushing on 2013xkr is welded to the pulley. If you look carefully at a blower pulley on a 5.0 engine u will see a circumference weld that welds the pulley to the bearing. The original pulley bearing is1/16 longer than a mina pulley. the mina pulley isnt welded but is one piece made out of aluminum, so no bearing. the end of the original pulley bearing is recessed into the housing of the blower. My boyfriend taught me how to work on cars and we got into a fight before he watched me cut the pulley horizontally and then laughed when the puller ripped the pulley of the bearing. Please reply on how to send the pics and I will send half a dozen of them including what the original pulley looks lkes with the bearing and a new mina pulley. I made the original post the way I did cause I am so upset this happened and I need a quick fix. My bf told me not to send the original post cause it would only attract childish responses. I am going to post the 2 threads later today on pulley removal that lead me astray. I only want legitimate response to fixing my problem, not childish pranks as my bf believes someone might respond that would cause me to damage the shaft on the blower. I should have bought a Boxster like he told me. there are all kinds of girlygirl sites for boxster fans. (I offerred to send a pic of me to the administrator but he hasnt responded yet, to verify)

Default Maimed no more!!!

I finally found the way to post the pics of my jammed bushing. As you can see I used a variety of tools under the direction of my bf. It took 2 hours to cut this bushing without destroying the blower shaft. In order to give a perspective on the size of the tools I used, I held the bits up against my 3ct. diamond. Thank you "Dooster" and Tiffany's!!! If you look at the crack in the bushing you can tell the friction pressure that holds on the pulleys on to the shaft. The hardest part of removal was not scoring the steel sleave that the blower shaft goes thru in the back of the pulley. I am so glad this came off without a hi-dollar fix. My dad called this a successful failure. My bf says I still should have bought the Boxster. Later on I am gonna post with pics the removal of the springs and the replacement of H&R 35's and a pic of yours truly!!!

Good save, as they say. If you're not trying to preserve the part that's stuck/jammed/broken, judiciously gnawing away at it with various weapons will usually get things sorted, but you have to be patient.

Is there a thread on this forum of how to do the pulley change for the 5l SC with pictures? Also, of what not to do. I know a lot of members have had this mod done. The information must be on this forum somewhere. I would hate to see someone mess up their car because they never followed the proper procedure.

My shop had the same bushing issue, and they replace Range Rover pulleys on a regular basis.

Glad you chose the XKR over the boxster!
