If you're not happy with Victoria, there's always Zymol Atlanique Glaze. It has, among other ingredients, rare Florida carnauba, Brazilian white carnauba, clove oil, banana oil, coconut oil, sunflower oil, and cinnamon bark oil. And ... best of all ... an 8 ounce jar is only $1643.00! Such a deal! Who's in?

You know, even if I won one of those mega million lotteries, the wife would still frown on that one (yah, I know, what's wrong with her?).

 

First thing I did when I got this car was take it to my detailer for a paint correction and Opti-Coat. Well, it is his equivalent to that brand but I use it for reference since people know that one. Now I just wash it once a week, no need to wax for a couple of years. I had him do it on my previous car and it lasted a longgggg time. Well worth the $900 I spend on the correction/coating.

I am saving my self from the Karate Kid routine, Mr. Miyagi would not be happy with me. I am not strengthening my side blocks.

 

Not worth paying $900 when you can DIY for under $125.00 and have plenty of product left to do several other cars.

The Opti-Coat is a great product but not what a detailer charges for the application.

 

Understood, but I had a paint correction done to my car prior to the coating being applied. Plus it was detailed inside and out. That also included his Opti-Coat equivalent being applied to my wheels (but did not include removal and coating the barrels). If I had rims that were more "open" he would have done the barrels also. I was OK with the cost for his 10 hours spent on my car. I know he is higher priced than some other guys in my area but I like him and he has a good reputation here and on the detailer forums.

I applied Opti-Coat myself to my Jeep as I did not care one lick what the paint condition was like. I just wanted a durable coating that eliminated my waxing it every month or two.

 

This stuff is actually pretty cool! While I don't yet know how LONG it lasts or how well it protects at all, it went on silky smooth and came off MUCH MUCH easier than the Mother's Carnauba premium stuff I've been using. It shines like the dickens also.
As someone said, it goes a looonngg way so I expect this one 6 oz jar to last me many years.
The ease of haze removal in itself makes it a plus for me and my poor worn out joints.

 

Uh...I think I am the "someone" who said this was GREAT wax....better than any wax I have used (see my earlier postings). The more coats of this you put on (and it must be smoothed into the paint with your bare hand to melt the wax into the microscratches), the better the finish.
How long does it last? well, if you leave your car, any car, in the hot sun for a day, you have burned off some of whatever wax you have on it.
So the answer to how long wax lasts depends on whether your car is left in the sun or otherwise exposed to the elements. One thing that few people realize is that any wax that contains an abrasive ("cleaner wax") removes the previous wax coat every time it is applied. In contrast, a wax like Victoria Wax simply builds coat upon coat - but the important thing is that the wax must retain its clarity - and Victoria Wax does.
And no, I have no connection to this wax other than having used it for years and having had to endure repeated comments and requests by people who see my cars and want to know how I got that finish.
As with any non-abrasive wax, you must start with a smooth and clean paint surface.

 

Gregory, I see that your rear wheel fender contains an inner plastic lip [shield?] My car does not have this. Is this a stock item?

 

Michael: that wheel opening trim was optional on the first few model years but I think it was made standard later (as was the Luxury all leather interior). The wheel opening trim is very neat and effective in preventing stone chips on the rear bumper.
My car has every option except the front park sensors - which would be useful!
