Default Jaguar Mk X / 420G doors rubbers

Hi,

I own a Jag 420G from 1968. the body is being repainted and my garage is unable to find new doors rubbers.
I have made a deep search and all the vendors answer that there is no doors rubbers available in stock for now.

Would someone have an idea about where I could find those rubbers or what other rubbers could fit with Mk X / 420G doors?

thanks for your help!

Hughes

You can't get the moulded ones any more, you have to buy a kit and make your own up. It comes as roll of seal, as only the corners were moulded. No doubt it won't be as good as Jaguar fitted, but that is all there is nowadays as there are so few of these cars around now it's not worth producing the moulded seals

Default In the process of doing my 67 420G

Hi

I am in the process of fitting my new rubbers and bought 90% of them from Rubber Extrusions | Rubber Seals | Rubber Edging | Rubber Parts
I dealt with Michael, I bought 14 meters of the main door seal which is made up of a hard rubber that fits in the channels and a soft foam rubber that does the sealing, it's all one piece and the correct profile. I had to throw away good rubbers that the previous owner fitted but were too hard and the doors would not close correctly. I am busy with this today.

I also ordered 2 meters of a different profile that fits on the vertical section in front of the front door hinges. Fitted this yesterday.

Then the complication comes of the one foot or so of the horizontal rain channel by the front door, here I had a suitable pieces in my workshop but still have to figure out how to join it all, with Urethane sealant and make a perfect seal, more about this later this week.

I also ordered 7 meters of the fabric covered finisher, (in red for my car) this fits on the inside edge of the car door openings. Fitted last week.

I also ordered the rear quarter light seals, one is in but the window is difficult to close wiyh the newness, may need surgery and the outer waist seals (rain scrapers) for all the doors. To do later this week.

There are mo front quarter light seals available so I bought for the 420 and type S apparently they need cutting and super gluing, again later this week.

Here are the items I ordered from them:

2.00 DX 73
2.00 IRS 1680EPJ
3.00 IRS 1629EPJ
7.00 ET 14 W RED
14.00 SRS 071

PM me your email and I can send photos as and when I do them.

Default MarkX 420G door rubbers

I've replaced all the rubbers on my 1966 Mark X within the past year. I got the parts as a kit from both XKs Unlimited as well as SNG Barratt although you can get individual pieces there too.

Default custom made rubber inner seal door

I ordered a custom made rubber inner seal for the doors based on a drawing I made of the original seal ; the custom made seal is not perfect (a bit too big and not very flexible) and hard to fit (about a whole afternoon for a whole 420g), but once fitted and you slam the door, the 420G is firmly closed and the seal does not leak (even in severe rain) ; if anyone is interested in improving my design, please feel free to contact me Jaguar Mk X / 420G doors rubbers-rubber-inner-seal-door.jpg
