The label, which should be on the rear left side door post is missing on my 2008 XK. Does anyone know how I can get a replacement? I have the VIN, but need to have the label for import to France. Thanks
Missing that VIN label can be a big problem. Where is your 2008 XK now? When did you buy it? Is the seller a dealer? Is the title "branded" (Rebuilt, Salvage, or similar)?
Why was that fender (wing) replaced?
Is the VIN visible through the windshield on the driver's side of the dashboard? If you can't find it, the car might be stolen, so you should contact the police immediately and provide them with the vehicle's paperwork. If the VIN is missing but the car isn't stolen, in the USA you can get a replacement VIN plate from a specialty company or apply for a new one through your local Department of Motor Vehicles or state inspector. I don't know about France.
Do what Stuart said & if it checks out ok then get an image of the correct label and have a label maker print one for you with your vehicle information.
I had the same problem with my 2013 XK. It was also missing the tire specification label.
At the direction of Jaguar, I was able to obtain both labels through a dealer. It was no hassle, if I recall about $20 each, and they were delivered to the dealer in less than a month. I did have to take the parts clerk into the showroom to show him what I was talking about.
Thanks everyone. The VIN is in the windscreen and stamped on the metal under the bonnet, so I am sure it's not a stolen vehicle. I will contact a replacement sticker maker. TBH i had never noticed the missing plate until going the (extensive!) paperwork of importing the car to France to put it on French plates.
