Ok - This thread is intended to be the end all be all on the Mr12Volt.
Requirements:
2010+ - Easy Peasy.
2009 - Just need to use the 30-40pin adapter.
2007-8 - Need a 2010 or newer screen and ICM. Flashed back to 2007-8 to work.
— The 2007-8 screens do NOT have the ability to display Portable Audi/USB even if enabled. They can do AUX.
I have a new screen and ICM, both flashed to work with my 2008 XKR.
For Black Friday, MR12V had a huge discount so I jumped at it. It arrived today.
The unboxing video is below.
Caveats: I did stumble over a few names of things. Like the ACM that I just described as “that thing in the trunk.”
I hope my voice isn’t too annoying. And that this is helpful to someone.
My plan is to try to get Portable Audio (and AUX) enabled this week at my indie.
Once I get that done,
I will do a slow, detailed removal video, pointing things out along the way.
A separate video of the board work, inside the screen unit.
A third video slowly installing the Mr12Volt, wire by wire, showing where mistakes can be made and all those goodies.
Hoping to have a final, pinnable thread for Mr12V for all 2007+ X150 XKs without requiring .25 speed.
I just got mine ordered.
Don't know how it'll go for the install cuz the minor hand surgery I had two months ago failed miserably and mi mano izquerda has very limited motion with a lot of pain, and maybe 10% strength. Maybe I'll ask my kid to help install.

Sorry brother, Utah is quite the road trip from here.
With any luck this week I’ll get Portable Audio enabled.
If so, this weekend I’ll get the three final videos completed if your son needs visual assistance, although I’m confident you can walk him through.

Cee Jay It doesn't sound minor if you have that much pain and limited motion. Do they have you doing PT?

I'm the "One in Ten Thousand" who has CRPS (complex regional pain syndrome) due to nerve damage caused by the surgery. I'm doing PT all the time, but even the PT person has never seen anything as bad as mine. I'm told that 'hopefully' it will resolve within 12 months. If not, I gotta suck it up.

I'm sorry you are going through that. I've known a few people who have CPRS or as it is called in other parts of the world, Sudek's disease. Not a walk in the park to be sure.. But as you said, sometimes the nerves calm down and the problem fades. May that be your path.
Whelp, seems they were successful in enabling both Portable Audio/USB and AUX through Autologic. So that is confirmed.
(Not that I doubted anyone, more doubted my Indie)
Charge is $345 which seems a bit steep, but at this point no turning back.
Ok, looks like the severe vertigo isn’t going anywhere soon. So I’m going to suck it up and make the vids anyway. The little side case of Bell’s palsy has the left side of my mouth partially paralyzed, so I’ll do my best to annunciate.
Trying to sort out camera placement and such for removal and install. Wife is not a good cameraman and eldest daughter went back to college.
But alas, we carry on and charge through.
If the vids turn out mediocre, as they have to be shot each in one go with zero editing knowledge here, I’m ok with taking it all apart and doing it again.
practice makes perfect.
Received my Mr12Volt last night. Opened the package today, see what looks like the 30/40 pin converter, so that’s good. Curious, there was a 12volt cigarette lighter USB-A/USB-C power adapter in the outer package (not in the box). Wonder what that’s all about? (haven’t looked at any of the installation videos yet)
Project for the spring, not going to pop the trim panel off in this cold weather.

KJ? You didn’t have watch my cheesy unboxing vid?
I got one too. Nice heavy metal case. Swapped it for the plasticky one I had in the ashtray.

Ok, you prodded me, I watched your video, but you didn’t have an explanation for the adapter either. Hopefully they aren’t expecting the unit to be powered by it, just a ‘gift’.
Nice that it’s just a single box, should fit better than the current Cambo two box solution, although I need to think about reinstalling my original GVIF, or continue using Cambo’s for my HKS Camp2 gauges interface. Plenty of time until spring to mull that over.

Cambo's unit has market value. The M12V will allow you to install Torque Pro if you use Android Auto, and there's a number of apps if you use CarPlay.

I’m hoping, since the audio interface is different, that the Mr12Volt unit will correct the one peeve I have with Cambo’s setup, and that is the couple seconds of low volume at the beginning of each voice guidance instruction. I currently hear “……at the traffic light”, leaving me guessing, do I turn right, turn left, go straight, give the guy next to me ‘the finger’? Kind of frustrating in busy urban traffic where visually studying the map can get you in trouble (and the receiving end of a finger).

Exchanged texts with a friend of mine who installs in the UK. He wasn't aware of the kits coming out with the USB plug in but the company has received complaints about the slow charge rate of the incorporated USB cable and he thinks maybe they're trying to mitigate it that way. Just speculation on his part and they have no impact on the install.
Ok, started on Valtrex for the bells, so head is like 3x foggier. Challenge accepted.
After going through the video over and over, grabbing screen shots, I also made this drawing:
If anyone wants to help with labels on things, I’ll be glad to make updates.
Removal Video done. Quick Youtube tutorial and not I can stitch vids together.
Gonna go make the label and disconnect vid.
Ended up not recording the disconnecting. But I did give a mildly redundant tour.
Tomorrow I install the additional card and then reinstall.

So I have successfully installed my Mr12Volt unit.
Again, thank you to everyone who assisted along the way, especially a handful of you who went over and above.
I have completed all of the install videos. I just need to figure out how to use iMovie on my phone (terrible) or go find a free video editing software suite for this WIn11Pro machine which I will search in a few minutes.
This was a one and done. There were too many places that could have ended poorly for me to return it to stock and start over.
So Here's the thing:
I made a lot of mistakes.
Some silly like during the removal video, I called the dull bolts long and shiny short. It's the other way around.
Some not so silly, like screwing up the contacts on a ribbon cable (Original not Mr12V). Thank God I was able to straighten it.
Then, in one of the last videos, my planning was extremely poor and two of my blue tape labels were incorrect.
I forgot who the admin is who can edit our threads, but I will probably restart an End All Be All Mr12V thread from scratch with everything in it to be pinned.
And relabel this one to "I am going to make an end all be all...." Thread. Or something.
OK, off to see if there is a good easy video editing software for Win11 and get the videos over here.
I'd like to add text over spots where I screwed up to correct them in real time. While it's all fresh in my foggy brain.
