Default My baby has become impossible to drive.

After about an hr of driving the engine went into safe mode and flashed two warnings. ASC not available and Traction control not working. I shut off and restarted and all was fine. After an hour same thing again. This got more frequent, by the time I got home it was almost a permanent condition. Any ideas from anyone would be great.

Interesting. How old is your battery? A lot of time weak batteries cause problems in these cars.

Weak battery would not cause a fault while the engine was running.
You'll need to pull codes to get more info... a local AutoZone will do it for free..

Question - is this concerning your 1995 XJ or is this a problem with your 2007+ MY XK/R?

If this is a problem with your 1995 XJ, the issue is most likely with the magnetic pickups that "sense" the rotation of your axles/wheels. They get very dirty sometimes and have to be cleaned. Another possibility is with the ASC control unit in the engine bay; they were known to have isues and have to be rebuilt or replaced.

If this is an issue with a 2007+ MY XK/R, Since this is occurring so intermittently/frequently I would suspect the control unit. But, the only way to tell for certain is to have the system diagnosed either at a dealer or an independent shop that has the proper equipment.

0121 seems to be the code of trouble. After clearing codes and wiggling all connections I think we have fixed the problem. Second of all, Sorry guys this should have been in the XK8 section as this is occurring with my 2000 XK8 convertable

Clever,
I actually had those two warnings come in on my 07 while driving. It would put it in limp mode. I would stop and restart and all would be well. It would also say Cruise Not Available. I got tired of the crap and put a new battery in it. Fixed everything. Even runs different. And it corrected the delay I was having with the start button.

I hope it stays fixed. But I think it sounds like wishful thinking. If you continue to have more trouble, try replacing the battery with an AGM battery.
