Just purchased a 2009 convertible XK....it has no jack or spare tire without run flat tires.
What is the best way to proceed for safety on the road.

The repair kit and inflator should be in the boot hidden under the liner all the way back in the middle.

Three suggestions; shop Ebay or Amazon for tire inflator kits, go to your local Jaguar dealer, or check some auto dismantlers.

You can get fix a flat at Walmart or online. They have one where the solution gets pumped in through the air pump. I let my brother use it on an old SUV with a flat and he drove 10 hours home on it without any trouble and got a new tire at the shop when he got there. The repair shop was also impressed that the fix a flat really works. Here is a link to the one I had.

Buy and carry a Dynaplug kit in your XKR.

Amazon.com: Dynaplug® Tubeless Tire Repair Tool Kit - NEW PRO Aluminum - Made in USA: Automotive Amazon.com: Dynaplug® Tubeless Tire Repair Tool Kit - NEW PRO Aluminum - Made in USA: Automotive

Buy a small 12v air compressor and carry in your XKR. There are many to choose from at Amazon.com

Amazon.com: VIAIR 85P Portable Air Compressor: Automotive Amazon.com: VIAIR 85P Portable Air Compressor: Automotive

I have the same XKR and I found a spare tire and kit via eBay, spent about $200 total.

Post a few photos of your 2009 XKR.

A number of members have offered their suggestions.....This is mine: Drawing on comments and suggestions from various members (a few have already offered great suggestions)...
1. I'm using my Jags existing inflator (check it for operation)
2. Added a small hydraulic "jack 'n bag"
3. Added a complete plug kit (has gauge, gator plugs and tools to insert). I added rubber gloves and a flashlight.
4. a 3/4" plywood (base for jack on soft ground)
5. 25" breaker bar and socket for removing tire.

There have been reports, some of the "fix-a-flat" goop causes damage to the inner liner and renders the tire useless. I'd rather not take that chance.

Ebay sellers 'britishrecycling' and 'pacific-motors' both appear to be parting out late model XKs. You might try contacting them on ebay as to whether they have the tool kit.

Mine came with a spare tire , not a full size but one that will let me put it on in place of my 20" . Just a large steel rim with a narrow special tire.

+1 for Dynaplugs - worked for me recently. Not a permanent repair, but held pressure fine even at motorway speed and stayed inflated for a week after while I sourced a new tyre.

Yes, but it took me a while to do so and was worth the time and effort. Here's my OEM Jaguar donut and toolkit, which was not originally fitted to my 2009 XKR since it has Alcon brakes. It came from the factory with an inflator kit instead of a spare. For details, see my thread from 2012: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-brakes-67260/

The compact spare and toolkit fit tightly in the well and the cover closes perfectly flat, so it looks like it was original equipment. In the lower left corner is the black/orange OEM inflator kit; my torque wrench is in the thin black box in the upper left corner. I also had a spacer custom made so the compact spare would clear the rear Alcon rotor, which might not be necessary for non-Alcon equipped 4.2L cars but I'm not sure. I"m also not sure about the fitment for 5.0L XK/XKRs since the rear wheel offset changed due to the eDiff.

I recommend adding a compact spare if you don't have one. It sure beats keeping a Bible in the trunk and praying that you never get a flat!

Stuart
