Default Nav cd

Hey Guys,
Recently received my'08 XK-R. So, I'm poking around the trunk and find the NAV CD, in a plastic box. First. I notice it has a listing of states, so, I scan through the list and there is not MD. Huh? It list states west of PA, north to south, to the west coast. What's up with this? I thought, these CDs listed all of the states and CA. I re-call with my '04 XJR, when necessary, you can go through the NAV menu and chose a particular area quadrant, if you will. I guess, I'll have to bite the bullet and pay the 199 for a new CD....?
What's up with this?

Check the disc that's currently in the drive - should be for the western part of the U.S. The newer NAV discs come in 2 disc sets

Thanks will do. Should it not auto-eject when the cover is removed, though?

You should be able to eject the disc from the UNIT located in the trunk. Remove the NAV Unit door and hyou will see an eject button on the front. Back in 2008 and 2009 the NAV CD came in either East or West.

When I bought my XKR from Florida it had the East disc, so I found a West disc on eBay for about $50.00...

I just ejected the East disc, inserted the West disc and the whole download into the system was about 10 to 15 minutes max.

Back then anything East of the Mississippi was a East disc, and anything West of the Mississippi was a West disc.

I don't know what happened on disc after 2010.

Hope this helps.

Hey Richard,
Thanks for the reply. I removed the cover unlocked the opening and depressed the eject....nothing came out. But then, I didn't power-on the ign. button....? If I recall, depressing the ign button without the depressing the brake pedal just turns on pwr to various ckts.? As may have eluded, I have the West disc and need the East.

NAV update....
It seems I did have the eastern US CD in the NAV CD player. Mr. ding dong here, hadn't powered the system, therefore, it wouldn't eject. Oh well, it looks like I have another in route, as "jumping the gun", I purchased one from a Ebay seller. However, perhaps, it's an updated version? It's an 07-09 version for $82.02 free shipping. So, we'll see.....

Hate to say it but, that's going to be pretty antiquated. I had the same one in my 08 and it could barely find it's way out of the driveway. With all of the construction etc that goes on every day, the maps get outdated within a few years.

You'll really notice the difference if you go for a long drive across 6 states like I did before biting the bullet and buying the current disc set lol

Well, that being the case, in lieu of the one I found, I'll just return it. NAda Mas!
Thanks for your comment.

Best solution is to buy a 6" Tom Tom..............so so much better than the Jag.
That's what I did! Works in my M/H and Honda too!
Jag. unit is a disgrace IMHO.

Adrian, lost in seattle!

Yeah, I really wouldn't bother with the Jag system - not only is the interface clunky & outdated, but it also takes over the touchscreen. And that isn't ideally situated for glancing at.

I prefer to have the TomTom stuck to the windscreen, where it's not far from my line of sight (but not obscuring my vision), and leave the touchscreen ready for changing the climate settings or whatever.

Well, if the truth be told, th NAV in my '04 XJR, seemed much better presented than a predecessor 4 years later! What's up with that? I hate to state this, In my mind the "rice rockets" have it all over these Englander/Indian folks...and.....IMHO, the FORD folks do have a great system. Wished they had passed it along...Oh well, as we used to say in racing, "we run what we brung"......
