Default Need help on choosing 19 vs. 20 inch wheels

I was wondering how the 19" wheels hold up compared to the 20" wheels. The wheels would be an every-day driver with 12K miles/year in Southern California. I want to make sure I'm not in the wheel shop every few months.

Thank you!

You want 19's then. My unspoken rule is no tires on public streets with LESS than 40 profile rubber. Too little sidewall to protect. Did you ever wonder why no race series run extreme low profile rubber? When i get my XKR, it will have 19's instead of 20's! No exceptions.

One of my 20's was cracked 6 inches from the inner bead towards outer rim. No damage on the rim. All I can figure is a pot hole did it.

I hate that I have to agree.

My XKR came with factory 20's and I'm currently replacing a nearly new (200ish miles) front tire with likely pothole damage. I hope that it doesn't become a regular occurrence. There just isn't much cushion.

I am not sure how the dynamics work but I went thru quite a few, maybe 8 or so, tires due to potholes and road irregularities. I was running the 20" Sentas w/ Dunlop Sport Maxx tires. Since I have switched to Kuhmos I have not had any tire damage and they have a much quieter ride.
