OK, so I've been on an 8-week (weekend warrior) overhaul of a bunch of items for my 2010 XKR. I replaced the water pump, the connector from the water pump to the oil cooler, all of the intake/supercharger gaskets, the supercharger snout, both serpentine belts, various hoses, and some other smaller items. Bottom line: I took a bunch of stuff apart. (And sidenote: it is definitely the most complex work that I've personally done on any vehicle.)
The issue where I need assistance: Somewhere along the line, I lost track of one of the hoses. I don't know the details of the hose that runs from the small, ribbed fork of the Y-pipe that connect to the hose from the right side of the throttle body (see attached screenshot from workshop manual). Highlights hose connecting to the plastic y-pipe attached to the throttle body hose on right side
I can't figure out the details around where this hose connects. I've searched dozens and dozens of pages in the workshop manual, and I am stumped. I see that it goes back and to the right of the throttle body (and probably the intake, based on the image), but for the life of me, I don't know where it connects.
Ok. Is it possible that my ineptitude has stumped the community? That is not something that I would feel proud of on any level.
To possibly help elaborate on what I'm looking for assistance with... here is a hose that I'm quite confident that I removed during my tear down activities. I believe that it's the hose that was originally attached to that plastic Y piece from my earlier post. But if it is, I cannot figure out where it attaches to.
Does this hose look familiar to anyone? And if so, can you confirm where the two ends of it attach?
I laid it over the intake cover so there would be some reference of its size.
The hose you are referring to is usually called the "expansion tank bleed/overflow tube/hose" or something similar.
At the top end it runs to/from the coolant expansion tank then at the bottom end it branches into two thin plastic tubes that plug in to two different connectors on the coolant upper cross-over pipe, one above the other.
I replaced that hose on my F-Type a few years ago and it was quite cheap, I think it got it from Britcar (UK).
Looking through the Britcar web site I can't find one for a 2010 XKR (AJ133 5.0 V8 SC), the closest I could find was one for the AJ133 NA, here: https://britcar.com/product.php/3015...xf_2009___2015
It "looks" the same as the SC version so it may well be the right one for you but then again maybe not.
I'll leave it to you and/or other members to find the right one!
@OzXFR I appreciate the reply. Regretfully, the hose in my pic is not the one that you suggested. I actually replaced the one from your link last year, so I know exactly what you are referring to. Although they look similar, the hose that I'm trying to get more info on is thicker in diameter than the expansion tank overflow hose.
Once again, thanks for throwing out a possibility for me to take a look at. Cheers.
When I look at the blow-outs from various parts catalogs they never show what is connected to the small end of the Y piece.
Is it possible that in the XKR x150 setup that this connects to nothing?
Maybe my mysterious extra hose has nothing to do with the other cooling components in that area?
Am I going nuts? (Don't answer that last question. I already know the answer.)
Could someone, with a later 2010 or later MY XKR, be so kind as to take a look at theirs and let me know if there even IS a hose that connects to that Y branch?
It came from the past. Jaguar changed the plumbing in that area and that grey nipple was just left over. There is no problem that's the correct setup.
As Posted above take a look and it's internally blocked with plastic. No hole in it as jahummer posted above.
It has caused questions from many for years!
