Default Need yelp with manual open roof X150 Convertible

Hello all,
I have XKR 2009 Convertible (x150)
My convertible roof motor for latching the roof has gone bad, it make a grinding noise when I try to open the roof.
Then the motor stopped responding to the roof opening button and immediately wrote the error Hood not latched. The rear windows are lowered and no longer rise.
The manual roof latch key Alan wrench when I turn it just slips on the gears. In order to replace the roof latching motor I have to get the roof open to do that.

When I talked the dealership they said there is a manual way of unlocking the roof latches. However none of the owners or service manuals say anything about this.
Does any one out there know how to do this so I can get the roof unlatched manually.
Please help I'm desperate....
Thanks in advance

I looked at a 2007 xkr yesterday.
When I went to put the top down, similar problem.

Per @Cee Jay :
If the luggage divider inside the boot isn't fully engaged, the top will not close. Same thing for the front windows; if not programmed auto-up AND down, top no workie.”

the way the seller put it, after sending me a video of the top working was:
”Hey buddy, just wanted to tell you we figured out the top situation. It has a safety feature with the trunk cover. It has to be covering the battery for the top to come down. Top comes down fine as the video shows if that’s makes a difference for you. Thanks buddy.”

Does anyone know if there is some kind of fuse for the electric motor in the roof?

ukccp, you need the electrical guide for these cars. Sadly, the links for all the manuals in the Sticky section are all dead due to poor site managers and shortsightedness.

Sounds like the actuator gear is stripped. Remove the plastic trim cover and replace the plastic gear.

As seen on Amazon:

Better Deal. Do your own search using the BMW Part number 67618370816

Please take photos and document the repair for the next folks.

Hi all,
I can't open the roof manually. The latches don't open. The Allen key doesn't unlock the latches. when you turn it counterclockwise something slips...
to get to the lock you need to remove the plastic cover. and you can only remove it by opening the roof. a vicious circle...

Please help me how to open the roof?

Need help 😭

No, the OP can't unhook the two latches that hook into the frame above the windscreen which holds the front of the top to the car.
I have no earthly idea how to do this, so I'm no help.

Ok, had my AI analyze multiple forums and read the manual.

As stated above the pull loop in the trunk is to release the top cover lid that covers the top when down.
So no help there.

You don’t have to remove the entire trim piece at the top of the windshield. There is an access panel.

I’ve screen shot the steps below.

That said, if something is stripped or disengaged in the manual lowering mechanism in the trunk, getting the top lowered won’t be fun.
