KrazyIvanUSA, it appears your great post has been highjacked simply because I mentioned K&N airfilters. Sorry about that. I look forward to hearing what choices you make; especially when we both purchased used XKRs from the same place.

No worries.

I did deal with Rupy. He was a great guy. That place was not nearly as pretentious as I thought it would be. I'm a CAD jockey at an engineering firm, so places that are too high-nosed make me uncomfortable. I was pleasantly surprised.

As far as the K&N Filters, they can go 60,000 miles now before their first cleaning. So, it is a misnomer about having to have easy access, as they will last far longer than a traditional paper filter.

I am also pleasantly surprised with the oil. I had no idea that oil changes would be so clean and easy. To pump the oil out and change the filter from the top? That is awesome. I want to get an electric pump. Do you know what size of hose is needed for the the extractor line?

Thanks again!

Beware of oiled filters on these cars. There are 2 MAFs, one at each filter and are sensitive to soiling from oil residue which can induce CEL errors. This is something that has been reported by other members here who have tried them. That said I am using large K&N cone filters on custom made cold air intakes but I chose not to oil them as to avoid any MAF fouling. Also as Stuart notes above there is little performance to be gained from the drop-ins based on the factory design of The intakes.

Default Welcome

I'm a new owner of a Jaguar as well. I recently purchased a 2011 Jaguar XJ with very low mileage. I haven't had it a week yet but it's a great car and does surprisingly well with gas mileage. I would say lookout for the water pump. I know Jags have had issues with the water pumps. Mine was replaced before I purchased the car. I think they have improved but it's something to keep in the back of your mind.

Is that wheel horsepower? Or at the crank?

Damn, I'm going to pick up a set of those K&N filters. If I add a racing stripe that should be good for 100hp!

Seriously, you seem to have bought a clean well maintained XKR. Congratulations and enjoy.
