This is my first Jaguar. I picked up a 2007 XK convertible with 14,000 miles. I can't wait to take it out of winter storage and see what it can do. Any advice from the Jaguar owners?

14K ? Not really run in yet. Best advice I could give you would be-enjoy!

Pity you have to wait though,I see much of the US is having a really bad winter.

Advice: yes: PLEASE pay attention to this: these cars need full battery voltage all the time. Get a CTEK battery maintainer with a "comfort extension wire", fit it permanently to the battery, keep the CTEK unit outside the car and plug it in when the car is not being used. You will have no problems with your beautiful beast. But if you do not use your car on an almost daily schedule and for longish runs then you will start to have random electronic "issues": problems with seats, door locks, windows, the convertible top, the touch screen, random warning lights etc. None of these systems are defective; they are simply telling you that the battery is not at full voltage.

There's a section in the XK set of threads that talk about common problems. It's a remarkably reliable and long-lived car, but it has some small common problems. (AC drain, Leather dash curling, battery drain, and a few others. You might as well learn about them now, it might save you questions and aggravation later. Most have some recommended preventative actions associated with them. I know that you'll enjoy taking your cat out for a pee to clean her AC drainage tube.

I'm formally from CT, you'll love taking the car out on some of those winding woodland roads.

 

Congratulations!! and welcome aboard. You no doubt will enjoy your new XK for many miles and years. The advice about reading up on the 07s in the forum is well said and very good advice. In addition reading the forum is a good way to spend long winter's nights.
