Default Shipping to canada by ups . Beware

For the guys having parts shipped from US to Canada by UPS, THINK TWICE.
I just had used parts shipped from US to BC Canada by UPS . The parts ( including ) shipping $110.00 . UPS fees on top $53.00. And thats not dilliverd to the door I had to pick it up at the ( Beleve it or not ) Canada Post Office. If this had been Shipped by USPS it would have arrived direct at the post office no Charge .

Yup. I learned that lesson the hard way too. It's not just UPS- FedEx and the other courier companies have the same practice of imposing excessive 'brokerage fees' for stuff crossing the border.

I feel your pain. UPS is a fraud for incoming parcels from the US. They charge a exorbitant so called brokerage fee. I learnt years ago to never use UPS. They should not be allowed to do this. I complained several times to them about this fee, but they know they can collect so they continue. However, as the customer you have a choice and do your shipping with a different shipper. When I import stuff I always make sure the merchant doesn't ship with UPS.

I to have learned that you shouldn't use any of the courier companies. I insist on USPS/Canada Post or I shop elsewhere.

+1. Having the stuff shipped to a holding facility at the border is another alternative for those of us who live close enough.

I'll ask one of the mods to copy this message to the Canadian regional section as a heads up for all. Lots of owners are unaware.

Mike.

I have had UPS open one of my packages and steal some of the contents. I do not trust them very much. Much better luck with USPS.

Also, in my experience, if I use the United States Parcel service I often do not get hit with any duty.. if I use the courier companies, I always do.

Did you hear about the new joint venture between FedEx and UPS specifically for shipments from the US to Canada? It'll be called FedUp!
I thought you could use a little humor after all you've been through.
