Default New owner of a 2007 XKR

I sold my 2000 XK8 and now I am a new owner of a 2007 XKR. Any advice on upgrades etc? Pulley for more boost? Exhaust? Where is a good place to look for these sort of goodies? Thanks

Easiest upgrade you can do for now is your signature

look at the main page and use the search function.

There's also a DIY section though it might be light in those type of mods

Save your money and enjoy your new toy just the way it is for the next 6 months. You might need it for maintenance and repairs as your XKR is 13 years old and lots of rubber suspension bushings and other parts may need to be replaced. If you don't already have a good battery maintainer, like a CTEK, you'll probably need one. And you might even decide that your XKR doesn't need any more power. But if you really want more power, save up for a 2010-up 5.0L XKR and sell the 2007.

I agree with Stuart although I'm an Englishman and we don't put things quite so bluntly.

The difference between the 4.2 and the 5.0 versions is more noticeable than you are likely to get from spending the equivalent on upgrades. However, if the challenge and satisfaction of seeking additional performance by your own efforts means more then don't be put off.

The 4.2 is a more reliable package than the early versions of the 5.0. I had a 2007 and deliberately waited to get one of the last 2015MY as it is intended to be a keeper.

The 4.2 has plenty of power. Better off spending money on a limited slip rear end or upgrade to the 5.0 as mentioned.

I'd hold off on upgrades and make sure the all the suspension bushings are like new, the duck bill issue is addressed, and all the fluids and filters are recently changed. There's enough expense in keeping or making it drive like new before guilding the lily. As for exhausts, Larini, Quicksilver, Supersprint, or VAP are big go to brands.

Before you spend your money on an aftermarket exhaust, remove Fuse 19 and see if you like it. It's easy and cost is zero.

Of course, that's if you have the Active Exhaust.

Default Good info

Thanks that fuse 19 is a cool trick. I will be trying that. I have another question my car seems to be missing some items like the cup holders in the center arm rest, I didn’t find this item in ebay, any input on where things like this might be available? Also is there a way to make the whistling antenna stay down?

Good choice for a car ! I love my 08 xkr. Check my signature , several products available. Some racing videos and Dyno on my YouTube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjt...uXqKYwQnDyYWhA
As to someone suggestions an LSD for our cars, Im putting out a lot more power than stock and still have an open differential and puting out amazing 0-60 on street tires so in my opinion the money could be spent somewhere else , don't think this mod is really a game changer by any means unless your doing circuit track racing.

There’s another fuse for that.
But I just leave the electronic sound system off, and just listen to the exhaust.

The one for $35 shipped isn’t too bad.

Default Check engine light

After only a few miles of driving I have a check engine light. I had it scanned it says lean condition, I tried some fuel injector cleaner in my tank. So far no change the light is still on, any suggestions ? Is this a common problem?

Better buy that $35 cupholder before it's gone. Jaguar often uses the same part number across several model lines.

Some owners remove that cupholder because they prefer having more storage space under the center armrest.

Is your Lean Condition on a single bank? Is it on both banks? Something as mundane as a loose/broken/leaky vacuum line will cause a Lean Condition.

Did you erase the code?
