I got the rear tint on order. But I will be buying some new headlights if I can find a pair cheap enough.. as mine are just terrible.

Drove the car to work today. I now have to plan on having my gas station and store stops to be about 10 minutes longer than normal because everyone wants to ask me questions, take video, pictures, sit in it and so on. My city is small enough that eventually everyone will have seen it and be used to it but right now its a little celebrity.

I did have a little indecent at menards today, I noticed my rear drivers wheel sounded funny and then realized OMG I only had my wheel lugs hand tight for the trailer! So I went in and bought what I needed and tighted them up.. lucky me nothing terrible happened.

Tonight I hope to finish the car up with adding the diffuser/splitters and then this weekend get lots of photos and drove footage of it.

Thanks everyone for taking this journey with me and its not over, ill keep this thread alive with updates and everything.

Your adventures with your motor diagnostics is precisely why I really try to work on my own cars myself. I have been told twice in my past that I needed a new engine for my car, both times it was not at all true. One was a broken spark plug (that they broke) and another was a leak in the intake manifold.

I am very happy you got it sorted out at minimal expense.

Looking forward to more pictures!

The wife and I spent a total of 8 hours last night doing the finishing touches. We installed the front diffuser, side splitters and winglets. I removed the aftermarket intake and installed my factory intake with a new filter and WOW the car runs I think better then it has ever ran since Ive owned it. I trimmed any fender or parts of the car that hit the tires when turning so there isnt much rub at all now unless I really crank the wheel tight.

I sold one of my last arcade games TRON and I will be buying some used headlights, carbon mirrors, and a few other little things here and there to totally finish the car.

Here is a pic I took of the car when I got to work. Its going to be hard to keep those splitters clean with my tires throwing stuff at them.. lol

Thanks! I was also not 100% sure I would like it but seeing it in person is even better and Im glad I made the choice with this design. Plus when you put that much work into it you have to like it..haha

Any reason why you don't want to use the same carbon wrap you used for wing and splitters on your mirrors?

Yes, ive failed 3 times at wrapping the mirror in carbon and even failed at wrapping it with my car wrap 8 bit design. Im usually pretty good at this stuff but that mirror has me stumped. Maybe if I could remove that silver mirror cover but I cant figure out how.

I think they just pop off, use search and you should find a thread that talks about it... I think I seen it recently... here is a link to removal that shows removing mirror first, but I am pretty sure I read soewhere that you can just squeeze the cover and get it to release.. Link didn't work...

I just ordered the mina gallery carbon mirror covers, literally 2 minutes ago. After hearing some horror stories about quality and shipping times I hope I have better luck as they look like nice covers.

The first gen x150 covers do not pop off unfortunately, second gen covers do. The Mina and other aftermarket covers glue over the existing ones and take only seconds to install.

Well thats good to know as I would have been taking apart my mirrors. But at the same time it kinda sucks they get glued on. I hope they look ok over top the stock mirrors. Ive gone this far so whats it matter anyway right? lol

If you're wrapping and tinting them anyway, why do you need a new set of headlights?

Anyway, great job getting to the finish line! I think it's turned out way better than anyone was expecting. Can't wait to see some rolling shots. Just make sure you don't accidentally scrape the splitter and side skirts off going over a speed bump .

A few reasons with the headlights. I have sanded down, buffed and tried to clear up the headlight lens but they still look terrible when lights shine through them at night. When I get my new headlights I will match the rear tailight tint like I did last year with light smoke instead of the black vinyl tint.

Why has nobody made or sold just the dam clear lens for our headlights. The XK8 has them on ebay super cheap, but nobody has just the lens for sale for our cars, instead you have to overpay for a used probably scratched up entire headlight unit.. ugh..

Of course now you'll have to deal with the flys everywhere you cruise! lol
I love it when a plan comes together and this one really is top drawer!

It sounds like you've already tried, but from this recent post even pretty bad hazing seems to be salvageable: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...6/#post1895933
