Default Is this the new XK?

Just came across this pic. Maybe it's just me but I'm not too crazy about it. It just screams Audi to me. Meh....

Looking at the plate, it's from 2013 but if that was the direction then I wouldn't be getting another one.

Don't think it's new Jag. Not a fan - looks too much like the Audi A5, Honda Accord coupe, and BMW 6 series had a love child

Brutish (not British) looking like the new Mustang in appearance. Don't like it.

All cars are starting to look the same as you can't fool a wind tunnel. Screw gas mileage and build us a car that looks good.

Not bad if they can give it the right proportions.

"Can't fool a wind tunnel" so you're saying that a Koenegsegg, a Lambo, and a Vette all look the same? They were all made to be slippery. The body can look as sculptured as mfg's see fit to produce. look at the evolution of the Hyundai Genesis coupe where it went from being butt ugly to being a really nice looking car. Nissan and Mazda need to take a long hard look at marketing focus groups and try to produce cars that aren't so bland... same could be said for most all the Audi line-up where their cars body designs just don't stand the test of time well... good products with meager at best looks. The XK line stepped out large due to Ian Callum, Bangle seriously screwed up all the BMW line for many years, it's not about beating a wind tunnel it's about who they let draw up the bodies and who they think will buy them.

Ummm ok.... maybe not a Koenegsegg, really, I suspect the vast majority of people on this forum have no clue what one looks like off the top of their head when compared to a Lambo or a Vette. Maybe I should have indicated... It now seems to me that most new high end sedans look very similar in design. I wonder if this is due to gas mileage and wind tunnel limitations? Better?

I believe we were discussing 4 door sedans you know like the original poster indicated?? Maybe I should have indicated... It now seems to me that most new high end sedans look very similar in design. I wonder if this is due to gas mileage and wind tunnel limitations? Better? Show me a new sedan side view at 20' that does not look like every other one. Main stream cars not Koenegsegg's.
From the side view the Koen. looks like a Lotus . I wouldn't put them in the same class as a GT type car and not a lux. sedan.

But those cars don't also have marketing requirements of having a certain amount of headroom, trunk volume, lift-height for luggage, etc. Once they combined aerodynamics with designs to fit us fat Americans and all our "stuff", that's when so many cars, particularly 4-door sedans, obtained very nearly the same "proportions".

Amen to that! You'd think that the kind of people who buy new or late model high-end luxury cars wouldn't care about a few mpg's difference, that they'd rather have something unique, eye-catching and shows their status. Not that modern styling is ugly, but when you have to get close enough to see the emblems to tell that its not a Ford or Honda, then I'm not willing to spend any extra money.

After 16 years, my Jag is starting to unravel cosmetically and I kind of want something much, much newer. Thanks to lucky investing, my next new car is already paid for, and while my bad back tells me I ought to opt for a luxury sedan with a soft ride, the only new cars that appeal to me are a handful of sports and gt cars. Went for a test drive in a 2013 XK coupe yesterday so now reading the x150 sections. Beautiful car. Don't know how they could ever improve on the styling. Just wish I could rent one for a full day and see what it'd be like to live with on these asphalt cattle trails of Fort Worth.

It looks like a speculative next-gen Audi A5 modified to have a vaguely Jaguar grill.

Sharx8, the current (well modern as the forum defines it) XK model is the perfect blend of sport/luxury GT, IMO. The picture shows a more luxury sedan look which doesn't appeal to me. With Jaguar now having a sport roadster, F-type, the XK, if reborn, will most likely be more luxury than sport oriented.

That pick started with the current XK, and then gave it a face lift with the trends of the time. Its probably the color scheme and wheels the artist chose that makes you think Audi.
