Default New XKR Owner, Some noise questions

Hi All,

Ive just picked up a 2010 MY XKR 5.0 16k miles, All I can say is WOW!

Couple of small things, when the seatbelt warning noise comes on, it sounds muffled/unclear sometimes, like its under water, sometimes its fine - any ideas?

Also, there is a very slight rattling/ticking noise from the drivers door near the tweeter.

Otherwise, I am super impressed with the car!

Regards

Stop texting and you might start driving on land. My tweeter works fine and I never use it when I'm driving.

If your problem is intermittent you probably have a loose connection with the seat belt sound. Your speaker could be loose also. I'm glad you're over all happy with the car. The 2010-on XKR is an incredible machine.

You'll fine the members on this forum most helpful, except me. lol. I hope someone else chimes in soon to offer more useful help.

I've been a long time lurker, there is most certainly a much nicer bunch of people on here than on other forums..

I'm just going to enjoy the car.

I think the tweeter housing clicks.. like a plastic movement noise.

Re the seatbelt. I'll just put it on lol

Why not let the dealer take a look, as it should still be under warranty?

Not to hijack the thread, but a couple of other suggestions to have Jag take a look at: Have then check out the battery and also determine if the Service Action K100 which is a battery monitoring system hardware/sooftware upgrade was done. These cars, I'm told, have 30+ computers and are tough on batteries. The service action was already performed on the 2010 XKR I bought a month or so ago, but there are a couple of other minor things that I am taking it to the dealer to examine. I figure if it's under warrenty, let Jag figure it out..

I'm also hearing a buzzing from the instrument panel somewhere that starts when I open the door and ends about 1/2 hour after the door is closed with the car off. Also, the rear shade/privacy cover thing under the hatch window falls down sometimes.

You also might want to figure out if the 10k service (oil change/filter) was done, and have this performed if not.

Good luck with the new wheels. I've probably not driven mine more than a few hundred miles since I got it, so I'm not even used to it yet, but it sure is a nice ride!

If you buckle up it will make the sound go away...

The reported noise when the door is opened, and which remains on for about a half hour: this is the in-dash climate control aspirator fan, working exactly as it should. The aspirator fan is located to the right of the steering column on the dash (on the veneered panel), behind a small grille. One more example of the multiple systems drawing power on these cars even when parked, and a further reason why we all need a CTEK battery maintainer used when the cars are not.

I haven't heard of any of those noises being typical to the 2010 XKR 911f…

Like me with my annoying squeaking noise coming from the back of my car, I fear the only solution is not so dire: just take into the dealer under warranty and have them fuss at taking the door panels off and chasing this noise, and the seatbelt buzzer. The problem is when these noises are intermittent but it sounds like yours happen all the time, so let them sweat it

Coupe or verte, what color? Plans, mods, etc.?

Thanks for the replies everyone, car wasn't bought from a jaguar dealer, but a prestige specialist at about £4k less than what a dealer would charge.

Has a warranty but only mechanical, same as jag I think.

The annoying noise is just the tweeter housing, I'm happy to take it off pad it and put it back on.

Dec 09 black coupe. 1 elderly owner, full sh, outstanding condition, garaged from new.

Will post some pics

I've posted in the new owners section.

Have no issues with wearing a belt - in fact, I'm very pro seat belt!

I just like things perfect.

Does anyone know how to take off the door tweeter housing?

Thanks

Sov221, thanks, I've read elsewhere on the forum that the noise I hear is the climate control aspirator, but I don't believe that it should be noisy. Some report that the aspirator can get clogged or otherwise start to fail, and this is what I want to have examined while under warranty. I can hear this noise while I am driving, and I don't like it. No reason that it should be audible.

Oh, and I have a CTEK thanks to the advise of the forum and will set it up once the car comes back from the dealer with either a new battery (I think the one in my 2010 XKR is original) or a clean battery bill of health.

Mine doesn't make any noises apart from the tweeter housing.

Oh, and when it's cold I can feel a slight clunk on idle every now and again.

Anyone know how to take the tweeter housing off?

Regarding the aspirator noise - all the modern Jaguars (and other cars) use this sort of fan and yes, some are noisier than others., I had the apsirator fan on my X-Type Sportwagon replaced for that very reason. It is not a big item. The new fan is indeed quieter but not absolutely silent. The fan on my XK is noticeable only with the engine off.

Mine has the aspirator noise and I am extremely sensitive to noises. However, this hysteria over the aspirator noise makes me laugh. Why on earth does it matter if it's making a noise for a few minutes after you shut off the engine and you're not in the car?? Am I missing something?

Sometimes, when I pull into my garage, I know that my wife is going to be making much more noise than the car when I walk through that door, so the last few moments I spend in peace should be free of annoyances.

My seat belt chime/alert/shrill nails-on-chalkboard sound will also vary in and out from normal to distorted. I'd love to find a way to shut it off completely. Just moving the car from an upper deck to a lower-level garage is not far enough to put the belt on. In my old VW I reprogrammed it to think I was in Europe, and most of those annoying chimes went away.
