Bernie: you start be removing the wood finisher - using plastic trim revolver tools you gently lever UP at the front (ashtray end) and then along the sides to release the tabs from the clips. Now unscrew the shift knob - if it has not been off before it will be very stiff - but it does just unscrew. Normally the shift lever should be in N to facilitate removal of the wood and gear escutcheon (they come off as one piece) but you should be able to manoeuvre it off.
Before you do any of this ( and I note that you have said you followed all suggestions) do look at the battery again because I suspect that this is the source of your problem.

If the battery is showing just 12 volts, it is not at full charge. I have no experience with a mobile booster but the vast majority of issues with these cars are related to the various modules not getting full voltage (hence the suggestions regarding the use of a battery maintainer).

There is no reason the front brakes should go on, unless you press on the brake pedal. The front brakes are not actuated with the parking brake.

Pick up a battery for under 200 bucks and give it a shot if you don't have a spare one from another car. Eveything seems to point to battery. A lot cheaper then towing to a dealer , or ...

Had similar symptoms of parking brake error and car would not turn over at all about 2 weeks ago. I put on my neighbor's battery tender plus for almost 2 days. Car started right up after that. I went on Amazon and picked one up for myself

Before connecting the new battery, touch your cables together to drain any residual charge that may be holding some module in a wonky state.

and if you have press the brake pedal more than a few times since starting it last, you will need to really press down HARD on it when the new battery goes in and you go for the start/stop button...

Press the START button before you step on the brake pedal.

If the car is outside the garage when the forest fire comes, you will have to pay separate deductible for the car.

sherbercars,
This exact same scenario happened to my 2010 XKR about 3 weeks ago. Could not start, could not get out of gear, would not jump, got a brand new battery, and nothing happened. DEAD!!!! Even AAA came out and told me the battery was no good even though it was only a year old. I exchanged it for a new one with no success. Was able to get the car out of gear through the emercency release located in the console. Had it towed to my mechanic where it was diagnosed as the starter. Replaced the starter, cost me $350.00, and everything is back to normal.

I build classic type modified cars for a hobby and do all my own work . but this computer stuff has me beat.

While the battery was disconnected, did you short the negative and positive to reset the computer?

one more thing.
Lock the car- then unlock it.
Then dont touch the brake and press the start button.

(they are rarely ever tricky- if just once)
