Default OBDII Scan Tool

I am taking Albert's (Actron CP9575) and Jagtoes advice (erasable scanner) and ordering the Actron OBD Scan Tool...

Actron CP9575 Auto Scanner Trilingual OBDII and CAN Scan Tool

It is available at Amazon for $89.99 and is a scan tool tool so no need for bluetooth or IPhone apps, the scan tool does it all.

There is a nice video on this device at this link below on Youtube....it will take you to a video that demonstrates the device.

This should help those who may have a basic or no understanding on how to work this device.

Available at Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Actron-CP9575-...r+OBD+II+Super

This device may help the unknowns of our cars. Seems like a device we should all have and learn how to use it.

Hope this info and guide to the links help.

I don't have an Android capable cellphone. The ELM327 Mini, which you suggested is also very nice and inexpensive with the Torque Pro app as suggested in the YouTube video.

So it appears this may be the best way for users who don't have an Android based phone to go.

I would follow up to point out that while the Actron CP 9575 works perfectly well with the Jaguars, I'd like to see a dedicated OBD II device that I could easily mount with a piece of velcro, or similar, to my dash. The Actron is not ideal in that respect as the readout is pretty small for my geriatric eyes :-). Also, it comes with a short OBD connector wire that does not reach all the way to the center of the dash for mounting. Of course, one could always purchase a cable extension but, I'd be open to get something more dedicated for continuous monitoring.

For me, I think I will try ordering the Bluetooth device that Jagtoes posted under the other thread.

Amazon.com: Simvalley™ Mini ELM327 Bluetooth OBD 2 Automotive Diagnostics Scanner for Android: Automotive Amazon.com: Simvalley™ Mini ELM327 Bluetooth OBD 2 Automotive Diagnostics Scanner for Android: Automotive

From the video it looks as if it is a perfect match. Ultra low price and I already have the Android phone (Samsung S4).

Will report back on how it works.

Is Torque Pro OBD2 software available for a tablet with Windows 8.1 OS.

I have a new tablet that has Windows 8.1 and Bluetooth capable, so the ELM327 Bluetooth would work.

I just can't seem to find the Torque Pro software other then Android.

Windows on a tablet is quite rare so very possibly little if any choice of BT OBD apps. Maybe one of the apps available for a desktop/laptop Windows might work?

It should, but you will need to use it with an ELM327 WiFi adapter instead of Bluetooth: Wi Fi Elm 327 OBD 2 II Car Diagnostic Interface Scanner US | eBay

My "new" ASUS T100 Tablet, which is very highly rated has Windows 8.1 OS.

So, I am still on the hunt to find software that will work with the ELM327 Mini OBD2 device that Jagtoes suggested in his YouTube video.

The tablet would be great for viewing the data because of its size.

I am open to all suggestions.

For those Jaguar owners that own a tablet with a Windows 8.1 OS, I have found the following set of a OBD2 Device and software from Amazon for about $28.00. Reviews are excellent on this product combination.

I have ordered the OBD2 package (device and software) and will report back once I get to learn the system.

This can be found at Amazon.com:

ScanTool 423001 ElmScan 5 Compact OBD-II Scan Tool and OBDwiz Diagnostic Software ( Compatible only with Windows 8 Operating System )

Link:

Hope this helps others.

Warning to check your particular device. I bought one that I use wiifi and my iPhone for my van and after a few weeks after leaving it plugged into my under dash port (I forgot to unplug it) my battery went dead in the van. So I believe they have a slight draw on the system looking for wifi etc. Would be bad on a Jag of course to have more electrical draw.
Just wanted to give you a heads up that you may not be able to leave the device plugged in full time.
Aloha

Got my OBD II adapter and tried it with my Samsung phone. Works very well. Here is the link to my post that also shows some pictures:
