Odd problem with Sat Nav
Hi all, just jumped in at the deep end with a beautiful 2007 XK, I've been over the moon with it so far, and I must thank whoever suggested a roidmi to address the lack of bluetooth music, works beautifully.
Here's a picture for anyone interested!
I've searched the forums, and also google and not turned up anything, so forgive me if I'm being dense.
My sat nav doesn't have an icon for the current car position. Here are some pictures to demonstrate:

Driving around with no route planned

New route planned

On route
Now I can usually manage just fine by guessing that I'm somewhere near the middle of the screen, but there have been times when it has been difficult to understand where I am in relation to the map.
I've bought a new up to date nav CD from ebay, but haven't installed it yet, as I believe it can take an hour, and I was worried it may make the situation worse. The one in the drive looks like an original, date on the copyright is up to 2005.
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance for your help/time!
Edit: Now solved, see https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...5/#post1711960 for details! Thanks all!

First it will take no more that 15 minutes to install the new disc. Look in the owners' manual for instructions. Second, and more importantly, if you have a smart phone, why not use google maps? That is what I do, why? All of the information is current and it will give you alternate routing when necessary.

This is now fixed - I updated the Nav as per ralphwg, and my new shiny icon appeared, along with some nice changes to the way the upcoming junction is displayed. Thanks everyone!
While I do agree that the OEM Nav is a bit of a pain to enter destinations compared to Google Maps, I also admit that it's pretty cool to have the directions/proper lane choices displayed between the Tach and Speedo.
Don't think the 07 model offers this Cee Jay, I suspect it's only on the updated (5L) models

I saw the feature you mentioned when I drove a friend's XF, and I was surprised when I couldn't find it on my XK. I presume that if you have a route set then it shows for you when a turn approaches? I've cycled through all available trip computer screen's and haven't seen any that are related to navigation, and nothing comes up on the dashboard screen when turning/about to turn.
Do you set it up from the nav screen or does it come up when a destination has been set. I only have the clock in that screen. 2012 XKR
Uh, my 2010 has it.
Maybe I don't understand the feature . How is it working and were any setting changed to have the feature work. I have a 2012 XKR with the latest nav CD and in between my tach and speedo is a clock feature. I have used my nav system several times and nothing shows up in that area.

Plus WOW, is my car filthy. I will have to remedy that after I finish moving into my other house:
edit; when there is no required turn within fifteen seconds or so, the clock does take up the space. The arrows only show when nearing the turn.

I assume that the way to turn it on is similar to how it is done in the XF:
TURN-BY-TURN NAVIGATION
Turn-by-turn navigation guidance (displayed in
the message centre) can be turned on or off as
follows:
From the main navigation menu, select
Navigation Setup, then select User Settings.
Scroll through the user settings list until the
Message centre guidance band is displayed.
Touch the band to select/deselect the feature.
If the band is dark blue, then Message centre
guidance is active. If the band is light blue,
Message centre guidance is turned off.
My old X350 used to do it as well and that could be turned on and off in the nav setup menu.

I believe the turn-by-turn feature in front of the driver comes on automatically once you set a destination in the navigator. I have never turned it on manually and it shows up when I set a destination.
