Default TCM reprogram

I took a ride in a friend's 2020 Mustang GT. It would auto downshift at optimum spot to hit the torque curve just right in track mode. Really fun. Anyone know if that can be done on the ZF26 trans?

Interestingly enough, despite its widespread figment, no one’s hacked the the early version’s of the ZF 6HP26 however there’re aftermarket controllers for the later versions and 6HP28 but be prepared to spend big money. There’s a lot of info on Aussie forums regarding ZF automatics as well.

I've cracked 6hp26, 6hp28, pre-2017 8hp for all Jaguar and LandRovers. All of those could be flashed thorugh OBD2, except for an early 6hp26 on a x350/x100/x200 - on those the TCM should be removed and flashed on a bench.
Actually Cambo already drives remapped 6hp26
Im not only modifying a shift points, but there's also a totally diffrent TC lockup schedule, torque interventions, pressures and lots of other stuff. For example on mine supersport there's almost 200 tables and variables which are totally diffrent comparing to a stock ones.

The actual perfmance 0-100 on a public road became a bit worse - just not enough traction.
However - every shift is 350-400ms faster, so 1/4 mile and 100-200 improved by 0.5-0.7s
Also, the gearbox temp is much less and the fuel consumption became 1.5/100km less.
Also L322 ultimate (heaviest) 5.0SC with engine and trans tune makes 4.2s 0-100 (and still lot of wheelspin up to 40kmh)

lowered gear box temp and improved mileage are some absolute wins. probably due to the reduced slippage.
Well done!

Not only slippage, but i also avoiding partial TC lockup on supercharged engines.
TC stays unlocked which helps to rev faster to the rpm, where the torque is starting to rise. Then it's fully locked, since there's more than enough torque to pull a car.
Less heat, better milage, better throttle responce (like on manual actually). And the engine torque isn't dumped into a heat, but delivered to the driving wheels.

Are you offering this as a service? If so, is it by PCMFlash .bin or SDD .vbf?

PLEASE update this thread with your impressions of the tune if you move forward with it. I'm very curious about it. Thanks.

So what you're saying is that an unlocked TC heats up the ATF less than a locked TC? Or am I grossly misreading that?

He has a disconnect with his language.
He first describes the stock tune, then compares the modified tune. At least that's how I took it.

Testing in May last year, my 4.2L XKR got 3/10ths quicker on the 1/4 mile.

With lockdowns, bad weather and a severe lack of free time, I haven't been back to the track since, but if traction issues can be resolved then half a second off the old times is within reach.

Thanks for the tip on the thread. I'm not in the X150 section section much so never saw it.

0.3s is good and a goal of 0.5s is even better. Last time I checked, most of the big name TCM tuners only promise 0.2s.

I'll keep an eye on the thread to check any future progress.

Yes, I will do. Luckily I have a 2012 XFR so it still has the 6-speed gearbox.
