Best XKR colour - when I see this pictures, I hate my black colour - only scratches after the drive throuh a car wash.

Here in my home area is only one car wash I can use - in all others my black XKR has to be polished after the cleaning.

That's why I like Stratus Grey - looks 'black', but doesn't show the city dust & grime as much.

Says specifically in the owner's manual not to drive through a car wash.

Those things are horrible for any color
It doesn't help that Jaguar uses soft paint.
BMW and some other cars have started using ceramic paint to counter those auto car washes that ruin all paint. Whether you see the scratches or not, is merely a testament to a paints reflectivity. Chrome for instance would show more and flat black will show nothing.

BB, back in the day (late 80s), I finally had enough money to choose my first 'proper' performance car. I was drawn to the 635csi and the XJ-S V12 - ended up going for the Jag because the price/age equation was better, being a UK-built car. And that gave me the Jag bug. But I still respect the 635...

I totally agree (obviously). The Big Coupe was always on my list, though in 88 I opted for the newly designed 5 series over the Six and a 911. I needed four doors during the week, and my partner at the time needed four doors during the weekend. 5 Monday through Thursday, and 911 Cabriolet for the weekend. Win win, so the Six came later.
Two iconic noses, and both elicit compliments, though the R seems to get more drools, somewhat ironically I suppose, mostly from men in four door sedans.

If only the picture had been taken in inverse perspective, the caption could have read; that was then, this is now.

Smile 2013 XKR-S

A few photos from stops along my second drive of the car. The car is amazing in the canyons here in north-central Oregon, lots of 2nd and 3rd gear corners. Too much fun! Unfortunately, the rain and snow season is almost upon us.

Official Jaguar XK/XKR Picture Post Thread-dscn0058.jpgOfficial Jaguar XK/XKR Picture Post Thread-dscn0059.jpgYes it's a bit dirty from the rain, & wind over the last few days. I can't really wash it because of the Temporay paper license plate.

Car wash! Blasphemer! 2 bucket hand wash only!!!

Actually, a bit serious there. Car washes will mar up that nice paint (if it's nice that is, can't see in those pics)

Cool CAR WASH ??

A car wash is a place you take a dirty car when the temps fall below 70f Otherwise I'll wash & hand wax my baby.

Default New to Forum-2012 XKR-S

Just purchased this 2012 XKR-S from a dealership in Dallas, Texas. Has 15,000 miles on it. Excellent condition. The very next day drove it on a 800 mile round trip to West Texas averaging around 21 MPG.

Nice! Looks identical to my 2013 (see above). I've burned about four tanks of petrol in two weeks, but nowhere close to that mileage except for a few miles with the cruise set at 73. Good luck with it!
