Default Oil Change Interval

Are there any DIY tutorials available specifically tools needed, tips and torque setting for the filter and drain plug?

Thanks

Tom

Today, taking a peak under the front of the XK, I was surprised to see a full belly-pan covering the underside of the engine compartment. Seem to block access to the oil drain plug and filter.

My '05 XK's oil/filter change was easy with open access. I assume that this '08 is similarly easy, AFTER removing the belly pan. Just from peaking under, without raising the car, it seems the belly pan is a two piece job.

Has anyone removed the pan for this purpose? Do I need to remove only the front portion of the pan or, both? Looks like a combinations of fasteners are used, including torx-head to the wheel well housing cover.

I did not see any removable access panels down there. Any advice for the best/easiest access to the oil drain plug/filter? No big hurry, I got an other 7K miles until the next change.

Thanks,

Albert

Default Just remove the back one...

Just did my 20k oil change on my 08 XKR. Remove the back pan, there are two screws connecting the back pan to the front one. Remove those then just remove the remaining torx to the back pan. You can then access the drain plug and filter easily.
