Default Oil Condition/Pressure Check

New to Jaguars ...

I can read so I know how to check the oil level. I've searched the forums and found a lot of posts on that topic!

My questions is how can I check the condition of the oil? How can I see how dirty or clean it is? Is there any access point under the hood where one can see the oil?

I bought the car from an independent used car dealer and was told that the car was "serviced" including an oil change but I have no idea what oil they used, or to be honest, being generally skeptical of used car dealers, it it was even changed at all. I'd love to be able to pull out a dipstick and see and feel the oil !!

Second question, how can I see the oil pressure?

Thanks

Right, so you can suck a bit of oil from the pickup tube. Can also check the filter for condition and colour.

Just purchased…. trust no one. Change all the fluids now.
Incidentally, the old school manner of confirming the status of oil by its color is irrelevant.
Record the milage and date when you have the fluids changed, today.

Actually oil colour will provide an indication if it’s just been changed or not. Amber means it’s fresh and black means it wasn’t changed.

But Guy’s sound advice to change ALL fluids should be considered regardless of what the seller told you.

When in doubt, change it out.
