Default Opening bonnet dead battery

Is there a way to jump or charge the battery from inside the bonnet (front) of the car? I have a 2008 jaguar XK convertible and my battery is dead. I think I left my only key in the boot. I just need to get the boot open or a way to access the battery I’m pretty sure my key is in there.

thanks

I haven’t looked real close to how it enters the boot but there is a positive lead that goes from the battery to the power point on the left rear of the boot. Maybe possible to connect to that lead.... look up in the bumper behind the left rear wheel... then of course connect the ground wherever you can...

My battery is completely dead....I suppose I’ll have to leave the portable charger on for a good while?

Some cars even have a label on that post under the car, behind the left rear wheel well, something like ‘emergency charge point’, I forget if mine has the label.

Yes, I see that. Thanks. I connected the charger. I suppose I’ll have to wait a good bit to be able to have it power up so I can release the boot ?

That is situational.

How good you are connected to the car, the state of the battery, and what kind of charger.

Previously asked and answered. You can:
1. Use the blade key in your Smartkey to unlock the trunk (boot) or
2 Use the remote battery positive terminal in the left rear wheel well to attach a battery charger

If you have your charger hooked up try using the cabin trunk release button to see if it will open

Not trying to insult your intelligence here just don’t know your level as it pertains to this situation, but you do still have to find a spot to connect the negative of your charger.... just covering all the bases here...

Yes, I connected neg to frame.
I’m trying again today didn’t have any luck with the boot release in cabin. I don have my key I think I left it in the trunk so this is my best option.

thanks

You need to use a conventional battery charger, and not a battery maintainer or trickle charger. It should have a meter or lights that indicate that it is charging. Otherwise, you can't be sure that you have a good ground connection.

Dont use a charger at all. Go get another battery and use jumper cables from new battery.
Reason is that your battery is toast and you will be buying a new battery as sure as the sun will rise tomorrow.
So why muck about with chargers and all, which may or may not revive a lost battery.

I had two years out of my battery after the first time I ever had to figure this stuff out.

I'd parked on top of a lit loading dark and chucked inside on a thunderstorm, hadn't notice I'd left the headlights on.
Battery was dead when I came out the next day.

Now if it is dead just during routine use, yes, I agree.
But if there was a very specific reason for the drain, the battery may be ok.

Is there a way to open boot from behind the back seat? Seems like my battery is totally drained and cannot get enough power with a jump
to open with release button. I think I locked my key in the boot.

No, there is no access to the trunk from behind the back seat. It's a solid wall that holds the pop-up roll bars behind each seat and the rear fuse box in the center.

If you don't have the emergency blade key that's in your Smartkey, you can charge the battery by attaching a battery charger to the external remote positive battery terminal located in the right rear wheel well and a chassis ground. See the link in my post #8, above, for details.

As Q&C said, you may not need a charger.
Just connect a fully charged battery to the under body connections, then see if you can pop the trunk/boot lid from the normal button above the license plate. May be enough juice flow run the lock mechanism.

This reminds me of a Dr, Drake Ramoray situation.
World's only neurosurgeon able to do brain transplants.
He fell down a open shaft and needed a brain transplant.
