Since you have no info on year or model ill go out on a limb and say tried the spare key blade housed in the remote under the chrome cover???
Past that you can put jump cables or charger on the bulk head positive battery post that passes through the trunk floor left rear under trunk to the left of the muffler. Theres only one big cabkle and has a rubber boot covering it. Positive hear and negative on the tail pipe. You can jmp the car or pop the trunk then with the remote? Put you yar and odel in your signature, sure helps

Very difficult (not ) You have to use the key which is in your remote fob...you put it in the keyhole on the rear panel and turn it. ..ok, silly sarcasm aside, do you mean that when you turn the key the latch does not release?

and your car is an XK?

The OP's Public Profile shows that he has a 2007 XK.

Under the driver's side rear fender, about 1ft behind the rear tire well, there is a positive remote terminal covered with a rubber cap. You can find it without jacking up the car. Hook up a battery charger, with the black negative (-) cable clamped on the frame. Undo the black rubber cap on that positive remote terminal and clamp the red positive (+) cable from your battery charger to it. Plug in your battery charger and let it charge for about a minute. That should give you enough juice to pop the trunk. You can leave that charger on and hooked up to those remote battery terminals to fully recharge the battery, or you can use the remote terminals inside the trunk.

Read your Owner's Handbook!

But that takes effort, and much needed energy.

My apologies, Brutal.

I thought that I read your post but somehow it didn't sink in. Maybe I'm losing my memory or my eyesight, just like my hearing. My wife tells me that I must be going deaf because I don't hear what she tells me to do. Truth is, I finally figured out how to ignore her nagging with impunity. Thanks to you, Brutal, I now have another way to avoid doing things - those that she says even a blind man would see need fixing.

But I have to disagree with you about spoon feeding answers so lazy folks don't have to search (I know that you're kidding because you're no fan of lazy folks, so here it comes anyway).

Chinese proverbs teach life's lessons. "Give a hungry man a fish and he won't be hungry tonight. Teach a hungry man how to fish and he won't be hungry for the rest of his life." The same can be said about the Search function. Live and learn. Teach your children.

That's cause they wanted us to teach them how to fish. Now watch we will be hungry rest of our life.

Pity those poor little fish. They get around everywhere in schools, but what have they learned? Since the dawn of time, they haven't been able to stop us from catching and eating them. Even a fish wouldn't get into trouble if he kept his mouth shut.

Also applies to politicians, their interns, movie stars, pro athletes, etc.

And Yours Truly. My apologies again.

Well, the intern might get in trouble with certain politicians if the intern did keep their mouth shut...lose lose.

Ok, back to the issue at hand...where is the OP? Is he still alive? Perhaps in future people who ask for help but have no intention of exercising the common courtesy of acknowledging, should indicate this in their request for help. That would allow those who normally try to help to save their time and energy...
Yes, feeling a bit grinch-like today.

Naahh, one could tell by the way he asked, without using the word please, or even bothering to write more than 4 words; he is the entitled sort.
Now if he was locked in the trunk and trying be concise on a low cell battery- I apologize in advance.

Hi, 2008 XKR Portfolio. Same happened to me. But when I bought the car it had only one key fob. And the key was a blank! So the battery terminals underneath worked great for access. Tank you
