It *may* be more fun to use the paddles on a twisty, hilly country road, where you are actually driving the car rather than getting from point A to point B. Sadly, where I live, most of my driving is either cruise-control on the interstate, or stop and go from red light to red light. When I lived in New York and Pennsylvania it was much more fun (except for the tickets going through all the small towns), and I can see that using paddles might be fun..

i use my paddles often, however i understand that its more of a novelty. I would appreciate it more if it was an automated-clutch type system that forced me to use the paddles.

the design of the paddles also plays a role in enjoyment. our paddles are cheap flimsy plastic bits.....whereas ive had other cars that have had real (magnesium) paddles mounted on the rack, that give you a nice solid clunk when you pull them

Removing Fuse 19? I'll have to look a that - I wish I could hear the exhaust note more in my 07 XKR - maybe pump that sound through the speakers like the new models out there

Agreed. That's why I added these. Inexpensive, easy DIY installation and reversible.

I rarely use'm but when overtaking a car I allways downshift with paddle so I'm in right gear when I go!:-)
I hardly use sport/dynamic mode either, I like to cruise!:-D

I've never got used to using them properly! I think I need a course
The first car I've owned that has them and I dive a manual every day so I have to think when the manual comes naturally. Main issue when I'm coming to a stop and going down the gears.
The shift down to make a roar at low speeds is good but I'm never sure if that is good for the car?

The ZF's control module won't allow the downshift until it won't over-rev the engine or cause the rear wheels to lock. It's smarter and faster than I am...

I use them on occasion. Cutting up the side of a big hill holding the R's up is a ton of fun, downshifting to set the front into a hard turn is too. God bless that exhaust note screaming back from the rock faces as you whomp the go pedal up the next straight stretch.

I'll also use them rolling through the asphalt jungle just to listen to the exhaust reverberate off the tenements and section 8 housing.

Coming off the interstate I'll just flip the lever over into sport and let it rev match / downshift to decelerate. Gets some looks from the econoboxes in the slow lane as I pass them while slowing down in the exit.

As said above, flippers locked to the column absolutely sucks when you are in a hard turn in first gear and can't find them... Probably the biggest downfall of the design.

Yeah, that's my main reason for not using them when I'm 'on a mission' - they aren't where I need them to be when cornering. So, fun for sound effects, but a mixed blessing for performance driving.
