Default Puddle lights ’08 Portfolio Convertible XKR

I have read a thread where guys have been changing / adding LED Jaguar logo projecting puddle lights in the mirrors or doors.

My car car has the area in the rear view outside mirrors capped with the plastic cover but no lights installed. Nor does the bottom of door have an access.

So can my have these installed easily? I have read the caution about snapping off the retaining tab of the mirror cover.

What about door installation? There is a red light on the inside at the bottom corner when you open door but nothing as for a puddle / ground lighting entering car.

Can't put a projector under the mirror, it won't look right and will splay too far. Under the door interior panel near the factory light is the best spot. Lots of room in there, and it's super easy to connect to the existing wires for the other lamp. Drill one hole through the plastic with the included hole saw and you will never see the housing again, except for the light it produces.
There are other ones made for different models that snap in using the existing lamp area, but those are angled and make the Logo skewed and weird looking.

CeeJay thanks for the reply.
You say to use hole saw that comes with kit.
Would you provide the kit info you are referring to ?

Uhhhhhhh, I bought mine like three-four years ago and the cheesy little hole saw was included. It was good enough to cut the two holes, but certainly not a tool box inclusion.
I can search the webz for you if ya want....

Dozens of 'em out there, but I haven't seen the two-tone red-white ones lately. Mine is white but the "JAGUAR" is red.

cool. Thanks Cee Jay. I can’t see red anyhow. These should work fine. I guess you just tie the wire to the door corner panel light wire.

Default No-Drill Puddle Lights

Although the thread link below is for my 2013 XJ, I did the exact same thing on my 2009 XKR. No drilling into the door is necessary as they replace the OEM puddle lights and use the existing wiring. They're not an exact fit but, as detailed in that thread, with a little modification they will fit and work fine. A big bang for the buck!

The top photo is from my XJ. The bottom photo is from the vendor's site.

Oh yeah, another project that keeps getting pushed down the todo list.
There’s a thread out there where I posted comparisons of the 3 or 4 versions I bought. Gonna have to dig that up because I don’t remember which one I liked best anymore.
Maybe, just maybe, I can get to that this fall.

Stuart Thx they looks great! I do show for driven class. Have won
1st in a Jaguar Concours. So I don’t know if I want to remove
the factor ‘red’ door light. I may just do what Cee Jay used but I really like the Growler too.
CeeJays mod can be covered with elec tape to hide projection at show. I still have a
precut tinting kit sitting in garage because of point deductions. I do the hell out of the car.
Thanks again for the info. Decision decision.

Default Ordered the Growler projection light.

We will see how they affect the point score. I got these as I can put factory light back in for Concour’s
