Default Puddle Lights

I just bought an early VIN (sub 3K) demo 2011 XJL Supercharged and I'm still trying to figure out the details. Before taking delivery of the car, the dealer lent me another XJL while mine was being prepped so I got a chance to play around with another car before I got mine.

The only official difference between the two was that the dealer's car had the illumination kit and mine didn't. However, I've discovered that the puddle lights on my car (under side-view mirrors and door) do not come on at all under any circumstances for all doors while the other one had them on every time a door was opened - regardless of whether the car was running or not. I presume these lights are not related to the illumination kit and there is just a setting I need to enable. I've read the manual and searched the forms but I can't seem to find the setting for enabling these lights.

Any idea where this is or what the problem can be?

Thanks

the setting is in the steering wheel menus, not in the center console/navigation menus. I didn't drive my XJ today so don't have access to look up where it is exactly, but hope that narrows it down for you.

My apologies - when I got home tonight I went looking for the menu option but I could not find it either! I could have sworn it was under the vehicle setup menu where you can turn on/off mirror dipping, high beam assist, etc but it wasn't there. I must be confused with the menu setup of one of my other cars.

Yeah, thanks anyway. I took a detailed look and didn't see anything either. I'm beginning to wonder if there's a single fuse for all of the puddle lights but I can't seem to determine which one that might be. Puzzling...

Worst case scenario, when I take it back in to get the trim from the boot re-attached (which seems like a common issue), I'll get them to fix it too.

I discovered that all the interior lights never actually came on - not just the puddle lights - one night in the dark (i hadn't noticed prior as i live in the city and always park in parkades). The manual references touching and holding the centre top console light to have it come on automatically upon entry / shut off. holding it turns on all interior lights, it seems. So, the answer was sort of in the manual.... Thanks.

Turn the car on, hold the center map light in on the roof console and keep holding it until it flashes, when it stops flashing remove your finger. The lights should come on when unlocking or when opening the door.
