Palm park upholstery permanently closed!
As I was about to make an appt to get my headliner replaced on my 2010 XK Coupe, I drove by Palm Park Upholstery in West Palm Beach Fl to find out the doors were locked. When I went on line I read that they were permanently closed. I believe a few members on this forum had work done there, on their Jags as well as this shop being highly recommended for high end cars. They were around many many years, but nothing lasts forever. Does anyone have any recommendations for a quality upholstery shop for the headliners on our cars in South East Florida? I guess I'll have to ask the Jag and Aston Martin Dealerships about who does their custom upholstery work. Thanks all.
Bocatrip: try: Auto Upholstery by Howard. 845 NW 7th Ave in Ft Lauderdale. 954-761-8375. I had headliners replaced in both of my 2007 XK's. Work quality was good. Price was reasonable. You pick the color you prefer from his samples. The color match was 95% on target (barely noticeable to me) due to using aftermarket headliner material, the quality of install was excellent. It took him a couple of hours to to the job.

I did mine myself after a bit of research, having never done anything before it before. Cleaned the board off best I could, threw the headliner in the washing machine on gentle cycle, laid it flat on the patio table to air dry. I did probably 10 test fits(it's tacky and will stay in place while test fitting without using any glue) before I got the courage to spray the glue and do the final push. I used a 3" fluffy paint roller to roll everything flat and into the corners. Test fitting was important to make sure I knew where I would come up short or become misaligned. Sometimes I started from the center, sometimes from the perimeter, to see what worked best. Got all the holes aligned best I could. It really came out well though.
Eli: We don't live that far apart. If you'd like to see the quality of work Howard did on my car, I'd be happy to meet you and let you look it over. Send me your phone# by private message and we can work out a meet if you desire.
