Default Parade time coming

I was asked if I would like to drive one of the local town consul members for our town weekend celebration in Sept. I am considering it but was asked if the person could sit on the deck with their legs inside the rear seat. Of course there would be some form of protection so nothing would get damaged. I wasn't to enthused but a few others are doing this in Corvette's and Mustangs and Volvo's. Besides me thinking it's a little dangerous my question is more would the weight of a 150-200 pound person hurt the rear deck. I suggested they sit in the car which may work if I get one of the older consul persons (hahah). Does anyone have any idea about the load .

My wife wanted to sit back there for fun, and she weighs a lot less, and I said no. Don't think that aluminum I cover can take it.

Agreed. I wouldn't risk it. Even if you put a protective pad over the soft top cover (lid), all you're protecting is the finish. That lid costs over $3,000 to replace (parts only; not including the cost to repair any mechanical damage) and was obviously not designed to support a load - and you know what a load a politician is!

On second thought, maybe a load on the lid would trigger the pop-up roll bars! Now wouldn't that be cause for a parade!

I'll offer, I was approached to carry one of our local dignitaries on the back of my mustang cvt for a 4th of July celebration. I declined, and my car is all steel and the gent would be setting in a similar location. First, I not a fan of parades, as they can be brutally slow and although I've never experienced any signs of over heating, I didn't want to take the chance. Also, my car is a 5 speed, so, there would be the constant clutching, not a good thing on the drivetrain.
I think you made a wise choice, as that area on our cvt. Jags does not appear to be as "substantial" as my mustang.
