Default Parking Brake Actuator - Removal

Well, the time has come for my parking brake actuator to die, right after a great 200km test drive with the F-Type rack installed. I'm getting the parking brake warning on the dash, no way to engage it using the switch. If I put the brake into service mode I get one go of it (with a lot of clicking noises) and then nothing after. The code from the module is C1127-31. The workshop manual states:Position Sensor - No Signal

 Parking brake motor hall effect position sensor power circuit fault

 Parking brake motor hall effect position sensor ground circuit fault

 Parking brake motor hall effect position sensor signal circuit fault

 Mechanical fault with sensor/actuator
I'm going to cross my fingers and see if any of the cables are dead/stuck and check the grounding points. Otherwise a new part is about 600 pounds from Jag which hurts. The other part that hurts is that you need to drop the subframe to replace!! I need a parking brake as very hilly in NZ and is required for our yearly WOF (vehicle inspections). For people who have DIY'd this job, did you fully drop the subframe, any thoughts, tips. Looks like an annoying job but not the worst. I will be doing this on axle stands.

Good question - I had a check for (Ford) F150 actuators and they look quite different to ours. But might do some more searching. Lots of 2nd hand Jag ones available but if I need to drop the subframe to do it then not keen to put unknown parts in.
