Hi all:

I'm getting closer to thinking that an XKR might be my next car... I have taken a couple of test drives and so far the car is pretty impressive. There are two options which I would like to get a little feedback from someone who has experience.

1) performance active exhaust - what is this, how does it sound, and how does it work? I have PSE my 911 and it has a separate switch that when engaged opens up baffles over 4k. Is this a similar feature? I like the sound but the only problem on my 911 is that I have to engage the PSE every time I start the car.

2) dynamic pack. I read the description and it sounds like it tightens up the car a bit. Does it make the car ride much rougher? Is the handling any better? I realize that it should be better but sometimes real-world results can be somewhat different...

You know, I was never able to figure out what the difference was between the MY11+ 'active exhaust' option vs the active exhaust that was standard on the MY10. I don't know if that was just Jaguar trying to charge extra for an option that used to be standard or if they added a switch to what was simply an automated function in the previous car years. There's a thread here somewhere talking about the ECU map that opens and closes the valves at certain RPM and throttle positions.

The dynamic pack was a coupe only option, and as I was looking at convertibles I'm not much help there either.

But at any rate, welcome to the forum! There are lots of knowledgeable folks around here and I'm still fairly new and have enjoyed the help so far.
