Sorry for digging up and old post, but @GGG was this an official Brodit mount you used in the photo? Brodit only list one now that sits down by the centre console. If you have further information that would be great. Thanks.

I don't have one in my current 2014 XK but here is the Brodit vent clip with the detector holder in my previous 2007 XK:
This one fits to the top and bottom of the vent so there is no risk of damaging the vent vanes. Brodit also do ones which fits on the side of the console.
Looks like a Brodit 653911, no longer listed. Have reached out to Brodit to see if miracles can occur. I'd 3D print one happily if they'll share the drawing.

Sorry friend, the best iPHONE holder is locked inthe boot. Perhaps I've seen enough of the results of distracted drivers. I will continue to preach "HANG UP AND DRIVE"!
Most phones are hands free for playing music, and navigation. I agree reducing distracted driving, but not to your extreme.
When will people learn that driving is a serious responsibility and not a frivolous activity. I respect your legal rights to do as you wish. I'll try to remember that when I visit my 18 year old grandson's grave.

NEVER answer or use my phone when driving....I'm 69.... see so many distracted drivers on the road,,it only takes 1 SECOND to change your and someone else's life forever...
