Done that trip a hundred times.
Stay very far away from trucks as you know.
Also avoid the fast lane if there are concrete barriers present- thats where the sand and debris accumulates.

If you are in a pinch for paint protection film, you can get carpet protection film from hardware store, its very similar.
As long as you remove it withing a week it should be fine.
If you do a halfass job of putting it on, because you did it in the parking lot of a motel before having any coffee, and dont get the edge sealed entirely, sand will stick to where you left little pockets. Dont fret, just put a new one on the next day, or completely take it off.

You are most likely buying a car that has never been on such a trip, and its better than most new cars.
Note, even when cars are shipped via transport trucks, they are covered with paint protection film.
I had a Suntec clear bra installed on my front bumper as soon as my car was delivered to me from Pa 4 years ago. I had it delivered in an enclosed carrier just to avoid any road debris damage. The best investment I ever made was that clear bra. I have a very few almost unnoticeable chips on the front fender flares but never wanted to cover the hood too. The bra does slightly change the metallic silver color on the bumper cover, but it is certainly worth that sacrafice than to have nasty chips. FYI......doing the front bumper on a 2010XK+ is a fairly difficult job and should be left only to an experienced professional. These type of films for this bumper will have some seams because of the shape but I've gotten used to them. Good luck.

That rare? My '07 had it.

This is the stuff.
(I use a 3M version on every product that leaves our factory, and it leaves no residue) (just like any phone you have bought comes with it installed)
Amazon Amazon

One caution, if you have driven 2 days and the film begins to come off, and flap, remove it and reapply.

I recently bought a 6K mileage 2013 XK in Indianapolis. It had the original battery. Jaguars have short battery lives. I installed a new battery immediately in motel parking lot. Batteries are readily available. No issues whatsoever on the drive home to Oregon. Original tires looked good, but had some rim-seal leakage issues and were way past "sell-by dates", so these have been replaced. Also, flush/changed brake fluid.

Once a Jag owner, always a Jag owner. Once you join this club you'll never want to leave. You have many enjoyable days to look forward to. Why didn't you have it transported to you? Although, it will be a beautiful drive home.

Depending on the miles, if higher than 50k miles - water pump and plastic coolant hose connector pipe wears out around 60k miles.

I say this because I am without manual as well at moment. took me looking up on forum and getting answer to how to tune radio stations, as the button seeks.
press and hold the seek tune button and it switches to manual which allows you to tune local stations once you arrive in your home area.
small item but can be frustrating if you were driving and trying to figure out.
congrats and enjoy.
