Plastic engine cover function?

Hey Guys,
Here are pics of the engine covers I had coated using the Hydrographic process. They look better "in person", but, I think you get the idea. A day-time pic outside would have been better, me thinks.
I dropped them off the day before Thanksgiving and received them last week. The cost was $350, near where I live, just south of Annapolis, Maryland.
