Default Platinum coverage

As I was looking at my window sticker that I had laminated I noticed the little statement about platinum coverage. Not having bought the car new and being it's a CPO car does anyone know if the included maintenance is covered. Was the coverage included in the original purchase and is it transferable to the second owner. Is it part of the 4 yr-50K mileage warranty.

Yes, the Platinum Warranty is transferable when sold, so you would have it.

Here's the complete scoop on the warranty 2012 is the same as 2011. See below.

Damn. I believe you've been doing your own oil changes? However, you now know you have some coverage for another year or so.

My 2013 I believe has only 4 years of free maintenance. I'll have to check. I believe my 2011 XKR175 had 5 years.

My 2012 says 4 years 50K miles. As for oil changes this has been the only car so far that I have not done an oil change on. I want to let it be dealer serviced as much as possible just for documentation purposes. I had an oil change this past May and the dealer assumed I would need another service in Oct. based on what they thought would be my mileage. It was done at 11.5K miles and they assumed I would put 8K miles on by Oct. Well I only put 3.5K on so I am going to wait until next year for the service. I guess I'll need to see the "in service date" to see when the coverage window closes.

documentation purposes

You won't void any warranties by changing your own oil just keep your receipts and save a LOT of money. Some believe having your oil changed at the dealership and stamped in your owners book will add value when it comes time to sell, who knows about that...

Just so everyone KNOWS... I went to my Jag dealer regarding my 2012 XKR. I had been there a few months before discuss warranties when the time came do - NOW....

So....

When i was there a few months ago a 7 yr 100,000 warranty extension was available for about 4-5k.... cant remember which really.

As of today my jaguar dealer said the only warranties offered are 4 year warranties or LESS. The Jaguar most aggressive warranty was 4 years,100k miles, 100 dollar deductible and 4300 dollars after taxes. Looks like I lost big time waiting a few months!!!

Hmm I am buying a gently used 2012 xkr that is just a month out of warranty by date and was wondering if it was possible to get a jag warranty extension and its cost. I figured it would be a few years for ~3/4k but haven't called about it yet. Your numbers seem to be in that range which puts it outside of justifiable to me.

You also need to purchase it at 49k miles or less, or 30 days before expiration. I got a 4 year 25k warranty for $2800 with $0 deductible if work is performed at a Jaguar dealer, $250 deductible if performed by a non-authorized shop. For me this is fine as my car is a weekender.

What has me nervous is what is going to be considered covered. I already had one case of a broken sensor wire not being covered under the 5/50 because it was damaged by something on the road, and not a "defect".
