Default Power folding mirror failure

Did a search but nothing came up for me. Apologies if I missed it.

My N/S power mirror doesn't always fold out or in. I've tried cycling a few times with the manual override on the mirror select buttons, sometimes it catches and moves but mostly it doesn't. It's going to be a few weeks until my dealer could see it so thinking of taking a look and wondering if it might be an easy fix? Anyone got any experience with this or any information on the mechanism?

Cheers.

Although I haven't yet needed to dismantle my XK door mirrors, it's unlikely the general design of Jaguar powerfold mirrors has changed much over the years. If I'm right, this thread in X308 forum is an excellent guide to the mechanism and how to rebuild it:

Thanks Graham - you don't have any details on how to remove & disassemble the wing mirror by any chance (workshop manual page or anything?)

For your model year page 35 to remove the glass and page 36 to remove the motor. Page 2173 to remove the covers.

I'm remembered from another car and gently pushed the mirror forward beyond its normal stop and returned it. Seems to have fixed it.
