Default Programing Garage Door Opener...

I've tried to program the garage door opener. I've cleared the 'old' programs by pushing the two outer buttons until the center LED flashes quickly.
I've held the current garage door transmitter and pushed one button simultaneously.
The LED will eventually flash...but NEVER goes to a "rapid flash" sequence.
Any ideas on how I can get into this program phase?

Paul - I feel your pain. I have a 2015 XK Coupe and I've struggled with the same issue. I even had my neighbor (a Stanford University training engineer) try to help me figure it out and he was stumped. Would love to know if anyone out there has "cracked the code" on this one.

I've tried many online suggestions including climbing a ladder to push the "smart" button on the door opener itself to no avail.
The Jaguar's Homelife unit just never gets past the slow blinking stage.
Anyone have suggestions?

Paul,

We can't give you any specific information because you didn't provide any details about your garage door opener. Nevertheless, programming the Jaguar X150 Homelink garage door opener been previously asked and answered. This 2020 thread should answer your questions:

Good luck!

I think we have all struggled with this. What finally seemed to make a difference for me was to hold the remote a bit farther away, like one to two feet. Holding it too close seemed to be the problem.

I have had to add a Homelink compatibility bridge kit to get it to work. This depends on the garage door opener brand too.
They are cheap and well worth a try.
There are dozens on Amazon and about $40.
Or look here and only $24!
HomeLink Bridge Kit

What the problem is there are different frequencies depending on where you are in the world. I have had to install this device in two separate homes. It's always the Jaguar that has this problem. My Lincoln LS and Lincoln MKS Eco-Boost worked as advertised.

What brand and model door opener do you have? I have reprogrammed several xks and xkrs sometimes it's easy and sometimes not. Also try moving the garage door remote around the Homelink unit, keeping the remote about 12 to 18 inches away from the built in unit. If all else fails go to the Homelink website or call there customer service people.

Some garage doors require a bridge device for the homelink to work.

I finally got the ladder out, did a bit of stretching (for my old legs) and went about programming the Home Link on my 2008 XK. The learn button on my chamberlain unit needed to be pushed when programming both this XK and my old xk8.

The instructions referenced in post #4 worked for me except I didn’t unplug the unit, left it plugged in. I did not turn the ignition on either. Just: push two outer buttons and hold, push button #1 and hold, climb the ladder and push the ‘learn button’ rush off of the ladder and push the #1 button and hold, release it and push again…the garage door moves! Life is good.

For newer garage door openers… what works for my 2007 XK is a homelink repeater like the one shown in these photos.
