Default Purchasing 2008 XK Coupe

I plan to trade my 2002 XK8 convertible in two weeks for my 40th birthday. I have found a 2008 Coupe with 32,500 miles on it. It is Emerald Fire with Tan. It has the Luxury Pkg, 20in wheels, Navi, pretty much fully loaded. Any heads up idea's I should know about. I have had great luck with my 2002 and have been very satisfied. Please chime in on any thoughts. I am purchasing the unit certified and taking advantage of the 0.9% for 60 months and warranty. I tend to like to add certain items on the vehicle like an exhaust, intake, wheels, grills, that sort of thing. I am very open to your thoughts and ideas. Thank you in advance.

I recently sold my 2001 XK8 coupe and bought an 07 with 5700 miles on it with 19" wheels and the lux package, black with caramel interior. I'm amazed at the difference between the two. The 01 felt more like a sports car in terms of ride and handling. The 07 feels more like a grand touring car and took some getting used to but it's a lot of fun to drive. As for advice, if you plan on selling down the road, color is important. I'm guessing the colors that sell easiest are black, silver and white. After that, the color can affect both value and time needed to sell. Just something to think about. Good luck with the new car.

I just purchased a 2007 XKR. I could only get the 0.9% over 24 months, so if you can get it over 5 years I say go for it! When you are closing on the deal I would recommend asking for the latest navi DVDs to be thrown in (I assume the '08 is DVD based and not hard drive?) - costs the dealer little but saves you an unnecessary expense down the road. You'll also be offered the wheel and tyre insurance. I bought it since a friend of mine had a few horror stories with his low profile tyres and potholes. It is something they will also be willing to negotiate on price. Good luck!

I recently bought a pre-owned 08 XK from AutoShowCase in Caral Stream IL. We really like the car but I've made three trips to our local Jaguar dealer to correct defects discovered after taking possession.

My major issue with the car is number and location of dealers. I live on the Illinois side of the Mississippi River in a small community about 22 miles from downtown St Louis Mo. My local Jag dealer is about 45 miles from my home west of St Louis. On a good day I wind up taking 4 to 6 hours of vacation time just to deliver and pick up the car.

I have one more defect/bug fixed that parts have been on order for over 6 weeks now. My factory warranty ends on Nov 20th and I'll most likely buy an extended warranty. I also called a few local dealers repair facilities closer to my home to inquire about servicing the Jag once the warranty has expired and to my surprise a local Cadillac dealer has responded they can service repair Jag's and in fact have many other clients with high end imports that are only sold/serviced in St Louis.

So I'd want to know who and where you can get your Jag serviced/repaired.

Good luck

Tom

Thanks RegentV12. Haven't stopped smiling yet - love the car. Have already made good use of the site to figure out how to disable the electric aerial. Next will figure out how to replace it completely. Saw a few posts on that the other day.

The deal is all but done. Deposit has been made. I can hardly contain myself. This Saturday I leave my house at 5:00am and make the three and a half hour drive to pick up my car. I have them installing the ipod/auxillary modual now so that its done when I pick it up. I read somewhere on this forum to ask for an updated navigation disc. I did and they're throwing it in. Time is slowly ticking by.

Default Congrats on your purchase...

...I think you will find the '08 a much improved car over the previous gen XK. I traded my '05 coupe for an Emerald Fire '08. I have the 19" wheels and am rather happy with the better-than '05 ride quality and handling. Neither the '05, nor the '08 handles like a true sports car, which they are not. They are, what I consider, "Gentlemen's sport cruisers". But, the '08 is just an all around tighter package and feels quite a bit more powerful with the same engine. The transmission response is much improved, as well.

Don't let anyone talk you out of the green, Emerald Fire color. I had many spectacular cars with great paint jobs but, don't remember ever getting this many compliments as I do with the Jag's Emerald Fire color. It is incredibly deep and gorgeous both in the sun and in the shade.

Would this be the coupe at Imperial Motors with the "sold" sign on it? I've been there twice in the last week and admired an Emerald Fire 2008 coupe that was sitting on the floor both times. Great looking car.

Yes. That is the one. I picked it up on Saturday morning. The manager and salesperson told me someone was in and mentioned that I was on the forum talking about it. The car is off the charts.
