Default "R" or "Jaguar" logo on brakes

Gooday. My XKR came with the "R" logo on the caliper covers but I see a lot that have "Jaguar" on them instead. Does it signify different brakes or is it just decoration?

The calipers on the 5.0 cars say Jaguar, the R logo ones were from the 4.2 XKR with normal (i.e. not the Alcon option) brakes. The calipers on the 5.0 cars are essentially the same but the 5.0 cars had options for either 355mm discs (same as 4.2 XKR) or 380mm. Alcon brakes were never fitted to the 5.0 from the factory.

My 2010 XKR has the R logo also, with the 380 mm disks. I think maybe the "Jaguar" logo is on the non-XKR model, the N/A XK. They are just light pieces of thin steel, so I'm sure they could easily be swapped around at will. Or painted. Or laser-etched...... Now I want to customize mine!

2012 XKR has red calipers with 380MM front rotors. It has "jaguar" written on the calipers and according to my build sheet it was an option.

Right. Mine is a 5.0 S/C and it had the "R" on them. They were originally grey but I had them repainted red, and got some "R" stickers from supergraphics which look pretty good, though they have 3 colours rather than just white per the OEM. Brembo Brake Decals - Super Graphics F1. I've given the thumbs up for all answers but I think that jagtoes is probably right - it is probably a build option and doesn't mean any difference in the engine or the brakes.

Cool link on the decals as my Rs have become dull and listless. I'm not too sure about paying the £20 ($30) per set for vinyl stickers, as calipers can get very toasty-warm sometimes. You have however talked me in to doing SOMETHING to make them look better, and I thank you for that.

Jaguar simply changed the "R" to "Jaguar" on the 2012-on models. My 2011 XKR 175 had "R" and my 2013 XKR has "Jaguar".

Cheers. They seem to hold up pretty well. I've had mine on for a few months now, they look fine, save that some colour bled when I sprayed them with clear engine enamel (d'oh!)
