Default Rattle after warm up and “D” shifting when car is stopped

Hi all. Can’t find information about this, so I decided to made this post. After car is warmed up and switching “Drive” on selector and brake is still pressed, somwhere in engine bay or under the car is rattle noise. It appears only on “D” when vehicle is stopped, and continues about a mile and then disappears. Sooner I will add audio of this noise.

(XKR 2007)

The 'rattle' made me think loose Exhaust Heatshield but that doesn't go away. Could be Torque Convertor when the sound disappears as the fluid gets hot. When a Convertor fails, it sounds like shaking a handful of nuts and bolts in a tin can.

Thank You for reply, Graham.
There is two recordings of this sound — inside and outside the car (another question is: is your car in convenience mode make such humming noise too?)

Where did you record 'under' the car? From under the engine or further back under the transmission. There sounds to be metal-to-metal contact and it's not lightweight like a heatshield.

Noise from 'inside' the car just sounds like you getting in and closing the door.

I don't hear anything unusual either.

EDIT: Sorry was having issues with the a audio player and it kept playing the same file which sounds just fine. Managed to get both files to play and it's hard to tell but could be a heat shield. Do you have a helper driving while you record?

Sorry, my fault because I recorded noise “inside” near selector and all the other car noises are much louder than that rattle.
About another recording: I just opened the left door and put the phone under rocker as far as I could.
And off top about convenience mode. Is your car make such sound or mine is wrong?

I'm the only driver of my XK so seat and steering column adjustment never changes - I don't use the entry/exit mode. Convenience therefore only activates interior and exterior lighting, message centre and power socket, all of which are silent. If you do use entry/exit mode then I'd expect the noise from the steering wheel motor and seat motors to be audible.

I’m novice to the forum and not so clear understanding how to use it.

So I got another question: is there some threads like “this noise is okay/this noise is not okay” about x150?

Because I own car almost one year and not perfectly acquainted with “what noise that XK makes is normal” and interested to prevent it from damage and keep calm when I hear some weird sounds.
And thanks to all for reply

If you hear a noise while in convenience mode, perhaps it’s the aspirator fan, they’re known to get dirty and make noise, normally silent.

Thank You for reply, Graham.

I'm not sure that I understood You and not sure if you got me right.

Talking about buzzing sound around the dashboard when car is opened and waiting to startup. It only disappears (with click)after 30 minutes of waiting without starting up or ignition on or when car is closed from outside.

Wow, thank You so much. I really could not think that this noise makes temperature sensor. I will check it tomorrow.

Pg. 108 in the repair manual can give you some insight to good/bad noise and how to diagnose.

In your under the car sound, I think I hear something very similar to a knock (more like a dink, dink, dink sound) I have been chasing for almost three years on my XK 2007. It turned out to be a warped flex plate. Here's the thread I recently posted, you'll find audio of mine there.

Hello and thank You for reply. Is your noise appear only on “drive” gear?

I recorded a video with that rattle (is this similar noise to your case?):

As suggested kj07xk, the Aspirator collects a lot of dust and can then buzz. This is my 2007 XK:

NOTE: the dash veneer has to be removed to see this and my car is RHD.

Yep, that’s it. And I very grateful to You, guys🙏. I clean it up and now I hear the silence. Except for suspicious noises described above.

Check engine and transmission mounts. Wear or failure can allow metal-to-metal contact with noise and vibration through the vehicle.

RESOLVED.

Thank You, Graham, for Your help and to all.

Rattle noise is coming from deflector shield (part 8)

It was quickest repair I had. The shield just was bended and was knocking on cable casing from vibration.
