Traded my 2007 XK for 2008 XKR. Love it. With 1600 miles I have noticed a fairly loud metalic sounding rattle coming from engine after starting, at idle. After I go a mile up the road and stop, it is gone. Wondering if it is some type of noise coming from the supercharger. Haven't taken it back to the dealer yet. Anyone have a similar noise.

 

After 4th try at dealer they finally heard it and found it. It was loose bolts on top of manifold and heat shield.

 

Wow, simple fix. Heat shield makes sense...warms up, expands...sound goes away.

Why did you trade up, something different in the 08 model that you liked? Just a different color, or simply for the HP?

 

noise has sometimes hard to find. glad they found it. glad you got a xkr awesome car

 

Traded up for HP, stiffer suspension (stiffer than 2007XK but not back breaking like my 2004 XK), and Alcon brakes. I was amazed at the power difference,(not much need for sport mode), the great ride and better handling. This one is a keeper.
