2008 XK convertible. I have removed the rear quarter regulators and replaced the spindle and cables. I have put the window glass back on as instructed in the shop manual. I need to re insert the regulator assembly into the vehicle.
My question is does anyone have a tip to make this a little smoother? I had a tough time getting them out with the glass removed and am concerned about trying to insert them with the glass attached.

Good evening, I too am in the same boat as you. What page number of the service manual did you find the replacement guide?

 

Window regulator removal starts on page 3358 of 4000 for the 4.2L manual. (At least in the copy I have.)

 

The job is finished. Tips:
1. Do one side at a time. It is easier if you have something to look at if you get stuck.
2. After following the shop manual steps to remove the motor and regulator assembly-pull out all three from their holes and slide the top bolt forward. Slide the front of the gaskets on the door forward a small bit to make room for the reg assy. Rotate the entire assembly forward about 90 degrees. Work the window motor around the body and/or convertible struts. Pull it straight up.
3. When installing-DO NOT install seat belt assembly until after adjusting the three window bolts. You can’t reach the bottom one with the seat belt retractor installed.
4. Lube everything with lithium grease.
5. Learn new cuss words!😃
