Unfortunately my antenna has snapped. As I don't really use the radio (MP3 will do me) I was thinking of unplugging the antenna motor as suggested in some other posts and keeping it down. I have the 'top half' of the antenna still so was hoping I could just push this back down the hole and it would rest there.
However, I can't get the remaining half to go down - please see attached exterior photo. I've tried turning on and off the radio and it doesn't move; can't hear the motor turning. I had hoped I could push the stump down but that's as far as it goes. I've wiggled it a bit (as it looks bent) and applied some force but I'm thinking perhaps the motor is jammed and resisting me pushing it further... any advice please on how I can get this down?
Also, which would I unplug - the white or the black plug (see attached interior photo)?
Yeah you don't want to do that. You'll just end up with a leak there. So replace it or do the body shop delete. Here's a guide from a gent who fixed his mast.
Thanks all! Good point about avoiding a leak Sean... and cheers for the guide, I had found that earlier in my searches but was hoping I wouldn't have to go to those lengths but perhaps it's the best way forward to avoid a "bodge job" and any leaks.
Thanks also about reminding me about the fuse and suggesting the possibility of that having blown; will have a look. I recall seeing in my searches that it was in the 'centre rear seat' but that didn't make a lot of sense to me since there's no 'centre' rear seat, there's only two?! Can anyone point me in the right direction please / have any photos?
Ross, the relevant page from the XK Owner's Manual is attached. You want fuse #4, circled in the image below. You can download the manual by following the steps shown in the sticky at the top of this forum.
Cheers!

So, finally had chance to check and replace the fuse. I can now hear the motor trying to raise and lower the antenna. No movement though. Wiggled a lot, pushed, pulled etc but no joy. Can't get the mast down any further, must be bent. Regarding the protruding nylon cable with the teeth though - why doesn't this move? Unless that's become 'unattached' from the motor / teeth have broken?
I don't want to replace the mast. Think I want a 'delete' or stubby solution. Either way, I'll need to remove the current mast / cable. I've had a look at the guide for replacing the mast here, I guess I can follow the first half to remove it, although I was a bit confused as it doesn't seem to mention removal of the existing nylon cable... any ideas / suggestions? Think I'm clear on how to remove the mast, but not so sure about the cable, especially if it's still attached to the motor...
Thanks Sean, interesting. Although still not sure why my "zip cord" as he calls it isn't currently moving, that would suggest its not engaged with the teeth of the motor - but then shouldn't I be able to pull it out? Doesn't budge. Anyway... will take apart at the weekend and see what's happening.
