Default Repairing Part# C2P17130 Glove box Insulation Bottom?

Has anyone had any experience repairing the Jaguar Insulation Panel Part # C2P17130 that sit under the Glove Box? As you can see from the pic, the 3 points where the retainer clips are used are all broken. I can use some advice on how to make a good repair.

Thanks,

Ken

repair.

Thanks,

Ken

Duck tape around the edge and then cut the holes out again. Functional but not pretty. But who’s looking there anyway.

I reminded myself of the old mechanic’s saying:
- if it’s moving and it shouldn’t —> duck tape
- if it’s not moving and it should —> WD40

This is just an extension! 😁

So here is how I repaired the piece:

1) I took a black "to-go" container and cut rectangular pieces to lay over the insulation. I left a spare piece in my car for the last week to see if the plastic would get brittle. I know it's a short period of time to test it, but we'll see how it holds up.

2) I then used some JB Weld epoxy to secure the pieces to the insulation. The JB Weld epoxy should hold up in high temperatures.

3) Finally, I put in some rivets to secure the plastic pieces

I hope this helps for future repairs.

Ken
