Default Road Rash (Stone Chip Damage) Pictures

With only 4,500 miles from new my 2011 XKR 175 shows significant stone damage from the tires throwing small stones against the paint. The XKR has no available mud flops or body kit mods to protect from this. I was going to add 20mm spacers to the front wheels and 15mm spaces to back wheels. I'm thinking twice about this now.

I don't drive on gravel roads and the car is used very little on the freeway.

Anyone else have this problem?

There is a relatively simple cure for road rash and other paint chips. Go to Dr Color chip's website. There you can order a kit customized to your color and simple instructions as to how to apply the finish. I have used it on several vehicles with good results. Each kit costs about $50.00 US. The url for the website is Dr.ColorChip Custom Automotive Touch-Up Paint Kit - Dr. ColorChip: Automotive Paint Chip Repair Systems . Good luck

I ended up with a repainted car over much of what you show....
Mine was far worse as I drove a stormy mountain pass that they were sanding with crushed red lava rock.

Needless to say, as soon as I got it back from the paint shop, I got the whole lower rocker panel protected with the 3M clearbra.

I second Ralph's suggestion to go with Dr Colorchip. When my '08XK front end got peppered with gravel I was speechless. Then, used the Colorchip stuff and it made all the chips disappear to where I could not even tell. Super easy to work with and apply.

I have also heard good things about Colorchip. There's a good video on youtube where you can see it being applied to a red BMW. Having said that, you obviously need to find a solution to the problem so it won't happen again. Maybe clear bra is the answer. Good luck
