Default rotating rear wheels in neutral

Hey guys,

Am wanting to detail (paint) the rear rotor hats of my XK-R. After jacking the rear and removing the wheels, I'll need to rotate the rotors. Is this even possible, without starting the engine and placing in neutral?
I'm resisting removing the calipers for such a qwlik project.
Still raining......

Just press the start button without your foot on the brake. This will let you shift into neutral with the vehicle power on, but engine off. Then press the start button again to turn off power (to save the battery from discharging).

If the car has an open diff, the wheels will rotate freely irrespective of what gear the transmission is in.

Except 'P', so you have to switch 'er on, to shift out of 'P'.

Why would that make any difference? I presume the parking brake can be released manually.

That's simple enough.
Thanks
